View Full Version : STR check in thread

I've been away from CF for some time and a lot has changed while i've been gone. Some people have gone, some new ones have arrived. I'd love to get a sense again of who's posting in STR at the moment, or even if you're not posting at least who sees STR as their congregational home.
This isn't an official thread at all and no logs are being kept (at least, not by me!). Would just love to get to new a few people a little better.
So, if you feel any affiliation to STR in any way then it'd be great if you could drop a post below, even if it's just a smiley.

I've been attending an Anglican Church for about a year, now, but I haven't done much posting in this sub-forum. (that said, I haven't been on the boards for about as long...)

I attend St John's Anglican church outside Sydney and sometimes read posts here in STR. My background is Christian Quaker

I am here occasionally. Upon reflection, I notice that the Old Catholic delegation seems to have remained steady, but with a couple new members replacing a couple old ones.
Peace be with you.

I've returned to CF recently, after a 9 month absence. In that time, much in my mind and heart has changed. I would like to find a regular home here.

Just a casual bump. It's great to hear of all those people i've never talked on STR. This doesn't need to be a stuffy community which only ever talks about the real presence or whatever.
I'd love to talk to you more. Hang around and see what threads come up.
From what i gather this is the best opportunity for Anglicans from around the world to come together to discuss anything we want to. For that to happen we all need to be active.
Let's be serious, let's be lighthearted, let's be theological, let's be frivolous!!!

I haven't been a regular poster here (I tend to hang out on Bridge Builders and WWMC more than anywhere else), and I attend a different church (Assemblies of God), but by theology, and by affection for C.S. Lewis and Tom Wright, I consider myself more Anglican than anything else. I suppose I'd be emergent, charismatic, broad church Anglican. Sometimes I feel like I need a "liturgy fix" and then I wander down to St. Mark's Cathedral (ECUSA) in Seattle. It's too liberal for my taste, but they do liturgy very well.

Oh yes?
I came for the theology and stayed for the liturgy as well. ;) At the 11:00 service we actually _sing_ the liturgy. It's excellent.

The Liberal/Conservative argument seems to have run its course, and both sides have moved on.

Have no fear... I'm sure the Liberal/Conservative argument will make a comeback! ^_^ It's just a matter of time.
Gosh, I'm getting cynical in my old age...

How boring, I hope not. It's nice to see people talking about books and church and family and that kind of thing.

Namoi4Christ? Anyone heard from her recently?
Yep. I think she got tired of some issues here that never seem to go away. Although they haven't been bothering me much lately.
I miss her too. She was great fun and not a nutter.

I agree, it is nice. But some of us also like discussing deeper issues. Which shouldn't be a problem, but becomes one when people can't speak nicely to one another.

I'm his mother. I've been here, in the past, under a different name but after moving house I lost the password.
I hope you don't mind if we post here. We tend to be an ecumenical family in that CosmicMoonbeam's father is Anglican and I am Catholic. However, we go to both churches.

I agree.
But I thought by the "liberal/conservative argument" longhair meant the constant accusations of being too liberal or too conservative or whatever. That's boring.
I agree, it's good to be able to discuss deeper issues. If that is a concern for you, then I would encourage you to try to give the forum some ideas and guidance on how to engage in dialogue you would find relevant.
