GMO's Kosher?

Leviticus 19:19 states, "You shall not let your cattle mate with a different kind; you shall not sow your field with two kinds of seed."

So why are genetically modified foods being certified kosher?

I doubt that all mashgiachim ("mash-gee-ach"; "mash -gee-ach-im" (pl) - a person(s) who supervises the production of kosher products, and grants a heksher) are granting a heksher for GMOs. It may take a bit of research to determine which are not - go th the various web sites - OU, KO, Star K, etc - and write them and ask that question. It would be very interesting to hear their answer :)
