about Judaism with no access to someone in the flesh... (I live in the middle of nowhere Texas and have no access to Messianics or Jews within a 2-3 hour drive ask questions or find resources).

I feel like my Christian education is lacking and that it is likely I cannot understand fully who Christ was without this kind of information (after all, he was a Jew).

umm wrong assumption. But HaShem opened the door for my Tshuva, thats for sure.

Reading is my best advice. Your local library should have plenty of resources. If its done on the Dewey Decimal System look in the 290's. Not sure about library of congress system, as its been a while since I used it.

hehehe...

My library doesn't have anything either. (it's tiny and relies mostly on donated books)

I maybe can get some on intralibrary loan though. I just want something worthwhile not something full of propoganda

if your talking about propaganda about getting you to convert, well you'll find very little if any of that. Fact is it is contrary to the Jewish religion to encourage people to convert. Some do, but most willnot encourage you to convert but try to answer your questions to the best of their ability.

hmm well to that I wouldn't know. I do sometimes enjoy various christian missionaries coming to the door on Shabbos. can be right helpful if I forget to turn a light on or something.

I just find that many people take some Jewish things into consideration in their Christianity and discard anything that doesn't "jive" with their interpretation of denomination. I don't want half truths or partial ideas. KWIM?

Are you interested in learning about Judaism or about Messianic
beliefs? Where we direct you depends on which you are interested
in.

I can recommend several websites if you are interested in traditional
Judaism.....PM if you would like them as it could be construed as
"prosleytizing" should they be posted here :)

There are many of the men folk members here that can attest to this being a good starting point

Jesus the Jewish Theologian (http://www.amazon.com/Jesus-Jewish-Theologian-Brad-Young/dp/1565630602)

Prophet, madman, Messiah---Jesus was all these things to the people around him. But most importantly, he was a Jew, just like them. Drawing insights and facts from first-century Jewish literature, archaeology, and tradition, Young shows you why understanding Jesus' Jewishness is crucial for interpreting the New Testament and for understanding the nature of our Christian faith.
