Hello everyone! I had some questions about some things, and thought that this section of the forums might be a good place to ask.

I live in a house with a very good friend of mine and her mother. Whom are both Jewish. And as you know, Passover is upon us, and I was given a heads up as to what foods of mine need to be "out of sight" during this time. So I have bread, ramen and other pasta-related foods, peanut butter, etc...in my room and out of the kitchen.

Since I am a Christian, and not *too* familiar with Jewish customs...I'm wondering if there's anything else that I need to do(or not do) during this time? I'm also wondering that, since I have all my food that I would be consuming in my room with me....does that mean that I won't be able to eat for the week? The mother talked about possibly having some cookware set aside just for me, so that I could still eat and she could still have things Kosher for Passover.

Tips? Ideas? Thoughts?

Thanks, and Happy Passover everyone!

In case you see me posting and wonder why I'm ignoring you, I'm not! I'm just not the best to answer. ;) ]

Someone will have a wealth of information for you, I'm sure.

How nice of you to be so considerate in accomodating in the best way you can!

The folks you really should be asking are the people you are living with - that is the only way there will be clear communication.

If you normally take meals with them then there is no reason why you shouldn't continue to do so unless they instruct you otherwise. You just can't bring the items mentioned in to the common area.

It sounds like you don't eat together, or share dishes? She needs to keep her pots and pans kosher for passover, which means they can't touch anything with leaven, the five grains, wheat, spelt, rye, oats, barley, or anything made with this or corn, beans, rice.

How do you do with salads? Kosher meat and fish is ok as long as there is no breading or sauces made with any of the above. For breakfast maybe some cream cheese on matzah, ever had it? it's not bad. Eggs are fine too. Why not ask your friend what would be appropriate for you to cook during the week?
