Okay, so my daughter needs a name! Her real name is Irish Gaelic and first/middle are not Saint's names. So! In researching it becomes a little frustrating. Any ideas?
She's going to be nine on Aug. 12...Of course, I'm partial to Irish Saints, but maybe I'm overlooking someone very suitable...what do you think? What should we name her???
If you have a suggestion, and it turns out approved by our Priest, you'll get some blessings~! :)

Angelina and Natalia are two very beautiful names. I'm pretty sure Natalia was a martyr or something, but I can't remember for sure. I'll try to look it up.
Neither my first or middle name are Saint's names, so I had this same problem. What I did was I just started reading up on female Saints, and when I read about New Martyr Elizabeth I felt drawn to her for some reason.
Oh, there's also St. Callista (another pretty one) and St. Calliope.

Yep, Natalia was the wife of Adrian, both martyred for Christ. There's also St.'s Nina, Macrina, Emilia. Here's a website that has a good list:
http://www.fatheralexander.org/booklets/english/saints/list_saints.htm
Granted, it also lists male Saints, but there are a lot of female Martyrs there too.

Angelina (after. St. Angelina of Serbia)
That's my saint! I was drawn to her because I had a hard time identifying with the many celibate female saints who were either monastics or were married to pagans and had unhealthy marriages. Angelina's marriage is inspiring, and her whole family are saints. Check them out at the OCA website calendar for December 10th (sorry, I can't cut and paste the address on this computer.)

Ufonium, I understand what you're saying. I'm choosing St. Elizabeth (New Martyr) because:
1.) She was a convert from a Protestant church (Lutheran)
2.) She was introduced to the Orthodox faith by her husband.
3.) She had a very good marriage, her husband was a man of faith.
4.) After her husband was martyred, she devoted her life to monasticism, rejected her wealthy royal status, and totally gave her life for the service of the poor and afflicted.
Now, I personally can only relate to #1 at this point in my life, but I liked that she led a full life, experiencing both marriage and monasticism, luxury and poverty.

Suzannah:
Mollie (Molly) is an Irish name for the ever-Virgin Mary, the Theotokos, which is the best patron saint one can have.
That way you can have your pie and eat it too! ;)
Lovingly yours in Christ,
Elizabeth

Wow, these suggestions are helpful to me, too! I need to pick a saint name for myself at some point. My given name, Kirsten, is a variant of "Christian." (Wonder if my atheist parents knew that?)

And the winner is *drum roll*.......................................
St. Angelina of Serbia!
Since three people suggested her, blessings go to Rick of Wessex, Grand-Duchess Elizaveta and Ufonium! :)
Rick, my daughter really loved the icon and the story! Thanks!!!! :)
I think Fr. James will approve since Angelina was a Princess and Saint of Serbia and our church is Serbian.... :)
