I have heard of a few different ways of calculating the Passover. How do you calculate the Passover and can you show me from the scriptures that your way is the right way?

Passover is the day when the lamb was slaughtered, the 14th day of the first month.

Lev 23:5 In the fourteenth day of the first month at even is the Lord's passover.

Yes, I know about this verse. I am asking how do you calculate when the New Year is? How do you know from scriptures when is the 1st day of the 1st month?

The beginning of you year as told by HaShem to Moshe. I go by the understanding of the barley which is needed for an offering. If it isn't ready then it isn't time. :)

The Jewish calendar this year agreed with the finding of the barley In Israel that this month we are in is the correct first month and the new moon was spotted on April

Here, I found my original post about this a few weeks back

Aviv Found!

On Sunday March 23, 2008 Nehemia Gordon and Devorah Gordon found large
quantities of Aviv barley at Ein Mabua near Jerusalem and at multiple
locations in the central Jordan Valley. This confirms that the new
moon expected on April 7, 2008 will begin the Month of the Aviv. Chag
HaMatzot (Feast of Unleavened Bread) will commence at sunset April 21,
2008 and continue until sunset April 28, 2008.

Shanah Tovah!
Happy New Year!

Henaynei posted this ( where is she anyway?) but I don't want to give you the link because it was during the forum mess up and everything is out of order

FYI
this is aviv barley - aka milk stage of the ripening process
http://www.karaite-korner.org/abib/2..._28_02_06b.jpg (http://www.karaite-korner.org/abib/2006/worm_6_row_ofakim_28_02_06b.jpg)
when the barley has reached this stage it means that by HaBikkurim ([early]First Fruits) the barley will be ready to harvest and fit to present to the L-rd as a wave offering...

what you see here it that the maturing head of barley has been pressed and that a "milky" gel has been expressed.... prior to this the growing head was small and hard until it started to swell in the ripening process

Thank you for your reply. I am learning a lot from you. My question now is..."How do we know (from scripture) that this method is correct"?

I'm sorry, with getting ready for Passover I don't have much time to explain but will say this. When you read the story of the Exodus, you will see what time of year it was by the destruction of the barley but not the wheat. The barley was in ear. The barley is needed to make an offering of first fruits which follows Passover and the first of unleavened bread. So the Barley needs to be at a certain stage when the new moon comes around to determine if that will be the first month or if another month must go by. The great thing about this is the G-d himself gets to determine when his year starts!

Google this Aviv barley and see what you get

Now many disparage this because there is no priest to claim it aviv. But that was how it was done when there was a temple.

If you click on the first one t (http://www.escapeallthesethings.com/biblical-calendar-aviv-barley.htm)hat comes up , scroll down to where is says, when was Pesach? That give a pretty thorough explanation, although not Messianic, they are Kairites, and strictly by THE BOOK . ;)
