What all do you look for when cleaning your house of leaven? Does this mean no beer for a week? When I look on the box of something, what key words am I looking for besideds "yeast" and "leven"?

I am guessing yeast is ok in some products because wine has it in it (right?).

No, yeast mixture is what Chometz is. You want to rid yourself of anything that contains yeast or fermentation. Now what that is depends on which halacha you follow, I follow Sephardi rather than Ashkenazi, so I keep things they don't , like corn, beans, rice. But no beer and only wine that is Kosher for Passover. dont' forget your pets foods.

Any product with wheat, barley, spelt, oats and rye is considered chometz unless it is Kosher 4 Passover certified like matzah. Otherwise it is chometz.

Clean your house as you usually do, making sure to vacumn well under sofa, chairs, and throughly where ever you may eat or snack. Since this sounds like your first time I won't overwhelm you with the nitty gritty. But check on these things first, next year you can add more. :)

there are also other threads active around here you can read and ask questions on.

Actually I've found a new site that helps to understand what it is, let me get it for you.

Do you mean the one made with honey? It's also gluten free and probably the only one I can ever have, haven't tried it yet, not a big beer drinker, but I heard it wasn't bad, oh well!
