Someone on another forum asked this question, and I thought I'd post it here for your input.

Where in scripture are we justified in using the sacred name of God (no matter what version we happen to ascribe to at the moment) at the cost of turning away a potential convert to Messiah Yeshua?

my life these days consists of many circumlocutions depending on where I am at any given time.... for example in general conversation I use HaShem, if in a religious setting and reading the scriptures, I will simply pronounce the letters of His Name or switch interchangeably with Adonai, but mostly its the former of these i use....

that said, a year ago, these words were not even in my religious vocabulary.... how times have changed.

Steve

p.s. if I was amongst people I thought i might possibly offend, HaShem would always be my first choice.

I'm not sure I understand this question. But will say this, I heard Dr Michael Brown use it when talking to a group of Jews, now I don't believe he pronounced the name correctly, then I have seen others ( Jews) invoke the name in prayer, and did not feel it was wrong...........but I'm not that brave yet............
