I saw this question in another forum and it really made me think, what can we do and what do we do for those who may need help right in our very own local church.....

I come home about once a month to the world's biggest care package sitting on my front porch. Food (GALORE), clothing, shampoo, toilet paper, books, light bulbs...you name it.
WHY? Because I reached out for help from my church, and they've done nothing but wonderful things for me ever since. The women's ministry sponsored my family around the "holidays" and they bought the boys shoes, coats, clothing, toys....you name it. Someone gave me a BEAUTIFUL coat too, and money, lots of it.
A couple in my local church sends me about $50 a month to help with my bills and they pray for me (which is worth more than any amount of money).
When I told my pastor that I was moving out of my parents' house, he gave me money to turn on all the utilities.
What HASN'T my church done for me? I haven't even been there in months Rojo because my youngest son is being tested for a rare form of Tourette's Syndrome and he blurts out things he only has to hear once.
Yet my church family lets me know, almost constantly, how much they miss me and pray for us.
I feel very blessed.
They're not mind-readers though and people need to know it's OKAY to admit weakness and ask for help!!

A few years ago some harsh reality hit me and my family with a horrible tragedy. It knocked my spiritual legs right out from underneath me.
I didn't need financial help, but satan was/is in my face with tearing my faith in God to shreds.
I can tell you that my church family was right there with prayers, phone calls, letters and cards and even coming to my home to give me words of encouragement and hope.
I guess this is why I have never understood why we have SDAs in this forum doing nothing but complaining about their churches when mine has been such a wonderful experience. Our members are not judgmental at all--but are absolutely loving and caring people. I guess maybe they are a rarity now days.
BTW--I'm are STILL struggling and suffering about this issue and if anyone is a mind to, I sure do need more prayer. Thank you.

I have to tell a somewhat funny thing and I can't think of where to stick this so I'll just put it here if it's okay Rojo.
I have to do a Persuasive speech in my speech class next week and we get to pick three topics that we'd like to do it on.
My choices are:
1. The responsibility of Jury Duty and why we, as Americans, should be THRILLED to serve on one.
2. What the bible really defines as a soul.
3. What the bible really says happens to us when we die.
I picked the last two KNOWING she wouldn't let me do those and I really want to do the first one anyway. :)
HA!
(And obviously I'm prepared for the last two if she picks either of those too!)
Honor, I'm putting down the books for 5 minutes and lifting you up in prayer. You've been so strong, but I occasionally stop and think about how even strong people need prayer to keep them that way!!
