I just found out that the soap me and my husband have been using has pig fat in it.
Doesn't this make us unclean? Also our soft soap is made of beef fat, does this also make us unclean since you are not supose to touch a dead animal.

I am no expert, but I would have to say no. Mainly because inless you are eating it, it cannot make you unclean. Tell me, does the Torah say that you cannot touch a pig?

Before even discussing kosher issues, do you really want to be washing yourself with the fat of swine? hehe... ;)

Well Hey, it gets ya clean, right? In my opnion as long as it does not go into your body, it is ok. What else can you wash yourself with?

If you use that soap, I'd assume you're using water? ;)
That'll should take care of it. :)

For clean animals it is only those that die of themselves, otherwise every time you eat beef you'd be unclean. :)
As for things made from processed unclean animals, I'm still debating in my head over.
We're not supposed to eat their flesh, and things that carcasses touch become unclean, but like I said in my earlier post, washing with water and waiting until evening solves that problem :)
Peace!

Within Leviticus, we're not supposed to eat the meat of unclean animals, and we are not supposed to touch the bodies of unclean animals that die of themselves as far as I can garner.
The pig fat that you would be using would (1) come from slaughtered pigs and (2) would be processed.
What does everyone else think?

There are many soaps made from glycerin of plant origin. You can look for soaps that are kosher certified.

Brentsbaby, I'll be going to our kosher market tomorrow morning to do some shopping. If you'd like, I can pick up some soap and send it to you (my only concern would be possible melting if its very hot during shipment)

Also, if you enjoy making your own soap, this site sells soap-making supplies that use no animal fat....

That's okay...I was thinking that I could be of help, but didn't think about the fact that you don't even know me and this is the internet, after all. LOL...when I read your reply, I thought you were being sarcastic, not joking. Just goes to show how difficult it is to read the 'tone' behind the printed word ;)

Mark 7:18-2018 And he saith unto them, Are ye so without understanding also? Do ye not perceive, that whatsoever thing from without entereth into the man, it cannot defile him; Mark 7:18-2019 Because it entereth not into his heart, but into the belly, and goeth out into the draught, purging all meats?
To me this means that even if you wash with soap made with animal fat you are still clean, and that no meat will make you unclean.
