View Full Version : If you could spare some prayers

I hate asking for myself, but I'm feeling pretty miserable at the moment. I think I pulled something in my back, and the pain runs all the way down my leg making it really hard to walk and sit. Then today I woke up and I had stomach problems. I took 2 Immodium tablets, so that I could go to school because I had a very important written exam. On my way back home I was getting on the bus and lost consciousness. Turns out I was dehydrated, but I came to, and have been keeping hydrated. Everything I try to eat makes me nauseous. I really need your prayers, because besides feeling absolutely miserable, I have another important test on Wednesday and really hope to get better before then.

So I would really apreciate and prayers you can spare.

Don't hate yourself for asking.

Lord have mercy on thy servant Gregory.

My prayers Greg!
Seems like you've ticked off the sciatica (I've got issues with it ever so often). For me heat packs help, along with some Aleve or so... Also gentle stretching of the bum (sit on the floor with one leg straight and the other one bent over the other so it stretches the muscles in the bum up toward your hip area... it might hurt a bit but it tends to help me at least).

I hope you feel better soon!!! (((HUGS)))

I was thinking the back pain sounded like sciatica too. If you are studying for long periods of time you have to remember to get up and move around.

Lord have mercy :crosseo:

Oh and an anti-inflammatory pain reliever like Motrin is good too. Ask your parent first though. Don't listen to crazy ladies on the 'net when it comes to taking medication :)

Prayers Greg.

That sort of pain is NOT nice - you were given good advice now take it :)

If you are taking pills of any sort [ and you sound as if you need them ] make sure you are drinking well - small amounts frequently are probably the best thing. Add a few grains of salt to anything you drink [ I mean a few :) like perhaps 6 or 7 ] and some sugar as well , it will help keep your blood salts reasonable .

Thanks everyone, but I would like to ask for even more prayers. I fainted last night, and hit my head on the bathroom vanity. I have a few cuts and bruises from the fall, and was taken to the Emergency room. Turns out in adittion to everything else I was severely dehydrated. I recieved 2 liters of saline through IV, and I just got home now, so if you could spare some more prayers I would really appreciate it.

God bless!

You should go to the doctor about the back problem. If it ran down your leg, then it usually means you have a broken disk which pushes agains your spine. Don't wait. Go as soon as you can.
Take care!

That's what they usually think, doesn't have be that bad. I had all the signs of that but turns out all I have is really tight gluteal muscles that presses on the nerves and a few weeks of stretching helped out a lot.

O Lord Jesus Christ, through the prayers of the Most Pure Theotokos, have mercy on Greg and save him.

I had an e-mail from him - and I'm sure he will not mind me sharing a bit of it with you all

Thanks for checking in on me. I haven't really been well enough to surf the web. Basically I still have a lot of pain, which was made worse by the fact that when I passed out I fell on my behind. Other than that I've been trying to heal, most of the cuts and bruises I got from falling are better now.

I am really looking forward to Holy Wednesday to get Holy Oil.Poor Greg - Hopefully by Pascha and Bright Week he will be well enough to put his head in here and update us all.

Prayers for Greg's healing :crosseo:

Hey guys. Thanks for the prayers. I know it's Holy Week, but I'm still not well. I went to an orthopedic surgeon and he thinks it's either a slipped disk or an aggravated nerve. He gave me a muscle relaxer, and some anti-inflammatories. I'm going to need an MRI and then he'll be able to set up treatment. I'm going to try to get to church today to get anointed, and pray that that helps.

Dear goodness Greg - that's not sounding good.:(

Try and get to Church tonight if you can - if you can't - well then you can't . :(

Have you found a position in which you are semi comfortable ?

Can you manage to sleep at all ?

Prayers for healing

Greg the byzantine
23rd April 2008, 04:21 PM
I can manage to lie down and bend my knees which is somewhat less painful, which is basically all I've done for the past few days. Sleeping is another story all together. I haven't had a good nights sleep since the pain began, and that's with taking Advil PM. The muscle relaxer he gave me today should help knock me out.

I can't wait to have the MRI so that they can tell me exactly what's going on. He said even if it is a slipped disk it probably won't require surgery, but I'm going to require physical therapy.

It's a blessing and a curse. It's lucky because I don't have school this week, but at the same time It's Holy Week and I don't think I can last through church. I'm going to do my best to at least go and get anointed even if it means going in the last 15 minutes. Hopefully I'll feel a little better so that I can recieve tomorrow or Holy Saturday. If nothing else I'm going to hook up my computer to my tv and stream live services from Goarch.org

Sounds a good plan Greg re streaming services.

Annointing also sounds just what you need and I'm sure that under the circs your Priest won't worry if you don't attend the whole Service.

Just take care and get this sorted out - or you will have problems later in life.

Christos Anesti everyone.

Just a little update, with hopes that you continue praying for me.

I am still in pain, and so on Tuesday I had an MRI. I went to the doctor today and the MRI shows that I have two slipped disks in my lumbar spine. One of the disks is pressing against the nerve that goes to my leg. He gave me a prescription for steroids which will hopefully reduce the swelling to reduce the pain.

So any prayers you can spare are greatly appreciated. It's very hard to sit in class because that puts pressure on my spine, and I still haven't been able to get a good nights sleep.

Thank you all for praying, and for your continued prayers.

Do you have any idea what caused this?

OOOOOOOOOOH Greg :(

Do take care - and once all is back in place you will need to do exercises to strengthen the muscles to help ensure that the disks stay in place .

The steriods should help reduce the swelling and once that goes down your pain will decrease.

Till then - rest and gentle excercise.

More prayers for you
