1) Where does halacha stand on the issue. My understanding is that originally the rabbis had determined that it is forbidden except in the case of saving the life of the mother - though I am sure it has been relaxed in the contemporary usage.
2) Your synagogue? I currently have no synagogue
3) You? Personally I am categorically against it - I don't feel that I am equipped to state that one life exceeds the value of another life and that is a decision for G-d to make. For me abortion = murder. (and before anyone says I have not the experience to make this statement allow me to say: I took my younger sister to get an abortion before I was saved; I have personally assisted in the surgical abortion procedure for perhaps 100 women, including handling the "products of conception"; As a nurse I have cared for numerous women after their abortion; I have also been asked to abort my own child and was abandoned because I said no; I have participated in and been arrested, charged and found guilt in my participation with Operation Rescue.)

Oh MY Henny! short but amazing story. You poor thing. You've been though a lot. But ...wow, I don't know what else to say except ..wow. * BB thinks to herself, see I knew you were a hero*
I agree with you too. I was pregnant with my first at the age of 16. All my friends and some family members told me to abort her because I was too young, not married and that's what girls do when they get pregnant. To this day I shudder at such thoughts because I couldn't imagine my life without my Isabelle. The womb is a sanctuary, a sanctuary for new life and HaShem gave women the honor of carrying that precious life. Unforunately must women don't see it that way.:(

To me abortion = murder. If HaShem gives you a baby, even unexpected, you are the mother, and would you kill the child if it was out of you? Now I am not a women, but I do know murder when I see it, so I am against abortion. I am not really experienced in the law since I am new to MJ, but it does say not to murder, right?

Shalom

You have been on both sides of the argument. You have personally been there. You have seen, participated and have more contact with those that went through the experence than many of us aould even imagine. The Lord has done a wonderfu work in bringing you to the truth and you will be a wonderful witness for many little lives that can not defend themselves. May you go with God.

Blessed are you, O L-rd our G-d, King of the Universe, who has brought me safely through perilous times to a place of refuge and safety, and who has covered my transgressions with His mercy. Blessed be the Name of the Most High.
