Passover is a time of destroying evil. Many think of the plagues that HaShem punished and literally destroyed Egypt with and many Christians and Messianic's realize that another destruction occurred on Passover when Yeshua went to the cross at the appointed time and destroyed the power of sin over us.
But many don't realize that before Israel was taken down to Egypt and then taken out, that this same time of year, Passover in Spring, Aviv, a great destruction happened.
We can see this in Genesis in parasha Vayera, when HaShem appeared to Avraham, ( we can see HaShem appearing to men and man during this time of year many times ;) ).
Genesis chapters 18 and 19 explain about the appearance of HaShem in the form of a man, who ate and talked with Abraham. He came to deliver a message, that the promised child was coming and would come the following year at the same time. We know what time this was as it is inferred because the first passover hadn't happened yet but would soon, and the last which was determined from the foundation of the world was far off, but not the plan for it.
In chapter 19 we see when the two angels accepted lot's invitation to stay with them, he served them unleavened bread.
19:3And he pressed upon them greatly; and they turned in unto him, and entered into his house; and he made them a feast, and did bake unleavened bread, and they did eat.The word translated unleavened is 'Matzah' , and this is the first place in the word that it appears.
Now I don't know of any hint that tells us which day of unleavened bread this was but we know that the next morning, which would have been the same biblical day, that the L-RD rained fire and brimstone out of heaven, after Lot and his family were taken out of Sodom.
It seems that destruction and sin and the feast of Matzah have much in timely relationship.
Can you think of anything else to add to this?
