For the last few days, I was on a pilgrimage to the Dormition Monastery in Rives Junction, Michigan and it was actually the first time I've ever been to a monastery. I got a chance to leave the world for a little while and go and devout the next few days completely to prayer and reflection. I had an absolutely wonderful time there and the fact that waking up really early to go to services at five in the morning for a few hours was great. I even got to help with work that needed to be done around the monastery and even working for a really long time, I didn’t grumble about it, I actually loved doing it and helping out. Going to the monastery is one of the best experiences of my life. When it came time to go back home, I felt kind of sad to be leaving, I wanted to stay.

I feel God is maybe calling me to the monastic life. I’ve thought about monasticism before but not a serious as I am since my visit to Dormition. I don’t really know. I guess I should leave it up to God.

Pray for me a sinner, that I can find out what my calling will be.

Unworthy in Christ

You don't neccessarily have to take monastic vows or become an official monk to become attuned to the monastic life. It is similiar to simply leading a holy lifestyle ~ I also came to the conclusion that one does not have to live in a monastery to have emphasis the monastic/orthodox way of life. (The best one can do is try)
