I'd like to know....
1. GIF format-how do we change jpeg to gif
2. Transparent- How do we do this?
3. Icon size-24x24?
I use IrfanView. It is an easy to use, image viewing program(freeware!), with limited editing tools. Works for me.
You can download it at this link: http://www.irfanview.com/

Yes on the size 24X24 pixels.
What software are you using? Usually if you open a JPG you simply save it as a GIF. You cannot apply a trans background to a JPG that's why they need to be a GIF. How to do a transparency depends on the software. At present,I'm not using any software.I havn't shrunk an image or made one transparent.I did try using GIFworks .com but it came out bad.I now understand transparent to be NO background around the object, not merely white.:)

December 6th is Canada's national day of rememberance and action against violence against women. The white ribbon campaign is a group men speaking out against and workgin to end men's violence against women and other forms of gender discrimination. I would like to see a white ribbon in the special items. Maybe 10 blessings. Description can be men working to end men's violence against women. Thank you so much.

I don't have an icon or anything cause I am really poor when it comes to image editing but I'd like to see a HCSB (Holman Christian Standard Bible) Bible added. I think most of them are burgundy/dark red if you need an idea as to what color to make it. :)

I really believe that my random phone call just happened to reach Lily while she was in town. Or was it you? Do you remember talking to me?

You know, I'm getting a little concerned with some of the very non-Christian stuff in the Armor of God section...I see a fairy, a unicorn, beer, a genie lamp, the leprechaun was the first one, but it was just one thing...
Perhaps we could use a bit of disgression in what we put on this site representing Christianity.

Many things have already been removed per Erwin's request. The things currently in the armory are not breaking any rules, and are not only just for fun, but to encourage people to become site supporters so they can "afford" the items. I can understand your concern and if there are any items you feel are truly offensive, we can take another look at them. What may be 'non-Christian' to some may also be 'no big deal' to another Christian.

The fairy is 5 blessings. The beer has already been brought up, I know... but still, it is not Christian. The other things also are not that expensive. If this were truly a good reason, then items would 'cost' more.I can understand your concern and if there are any items you feel are truly offensive, we can take another look at them. What may be 'non-Christian' to some may also be 'no big deal' to another Christian.
It's not the offence. It's the un-Christian nature of these things. In the Armoury of God, no less. Some are novelty-type things, but we don't need, say, a fairy for 5 blessings.

Beer, I don't see a problem with. There is nothing un-christian if used with moderation.
However fairy, a unicorn, a genie lamp, and the leprechaun aren't of God. They are of a different religion and aren't Christian.

Not that it matters now, but technically, a unicorn is not from another religion, and is often used to depict Christ Himself. All these things, except for the leprechaun, were suggested by Christians on this site. The leprechaun was put in there as a light-hearted ribbing to our atheist friends here who like to tease any theist about believing in "pink unicorns and leprechauns." ;)

True. And apparently some places in TX it is illegal to show either the Star of David or the peace symbol because they are considered satanic symbols. Does that make them so? :)
Zacharias

No need to debate. Even though I'm right ;) You are also right.
The horn of the unicorn was the weapon of the faithful and of Christ. This would be the Gospel, also considered to be the sword or word of God which, like a unicorn's sharp horn, pierces all that it touches. The unicorn's horn became an emblem of Christ the Physician since He wounds only to heal. St. John Chrysostom thought the unicorn's horn was a fit symbol for the cross of Christ with which the faithful (represented by the unicorn itself) fought off their enemies. In the Bible, God is said to have the strength of a unicorn (Num 23:22; 24:8).

I agree it is a good point butxifxnot.
Beer, I don't see a problem with. There is nothing un-christian if used with moderation.
However fairy, a unicorn, a genie lamp, and the leprechaun aren't of God. They are of a different religion and aren't Christian.
I disagree with the unicorn since it is mentioned in the bible
and as for my blessings fairy..since its an item I requested then change the name to Snowy's Blessings Angel and the description too.

Hello, butxifxnot :)
In reply to your post, I am the one who requested the unicorn. I just want you to know that I PMed Erwin first, to see if he had any objection to a unicorn being added to the Armor of God and he did not. For me, the unicorn just fit in with the other fantasy items which were already there, such as the Elven gear. I guess you can tell that I'm a fan of the Lord of the Rings books. At no point did I mean to undermine the armor which is mentioned in the bible as being the armor of God. If everyone agrees with you, I will be happy for LibertyChic to remove the unicorn. My apologies to anyone who has been offended by this. :(

I agree. Unless it is blatantly "satanic" (e.g. devils, demons, little red pitch forks, etc) or is some other "theme" that Erwin has already said is not appropriate (prescription drugs, etc) then it should be taken as "just for fun." No one is forcing anyone to purchase the fantasy items, and if one fantasy item is "bad" then they all are. This would mean removal of all the Sci-Fi, Halo, Elven, LOTR and numerous other items. It would be close to half the armory, I believe (would have to actually count items to be certain).

From Hans Biedermann's Dictionary of Symbolism: A griffin is a fabulous animal, symbolically significant for its domination of both the earth and the sky - because of its lion's body and eagle's head and wings. It has typological antecedents in ancient Asia, especially in the Assyrian k'rub, which is also the source of the Hebrew cherub. The frequent representations of griffin-like creatures in Persian art made them symbolize ancient Persia for the Jews.
Griffins - The Eagle and the Lion
http://www.crystalinks.com/griffin.gifGriffins are portrayed with a lion's body, an eagle's head, long ears, and an eagle's claws, to indicate that one must combine intelligence and strength.
Even Christ's Ascension came to be associated with the griffin. The creature appeared as frequently in the applied arts (tapestries, the work of goldsmiths) as in heraldry. In the latter domain, Boeckler (1688) offered the following interpretation: "Griffins are portrayed with a lion's body, an eagle's head, long ears, and an eagle's claws, to indicate that one must combine intelligence and strength."

Hello again :)
I would just like to add that I hear what some are saying with regard to the Armor of God containing items not mentioned as armor in the Bible. I therefore agree with Snowy who says that all items not of the armor of God would need to be removed. However, perhaps another category could be formed, containing 'other' items? If not, then I would be compelled to question the existence of the RPG area here in CF. (Which, by the way, I enjoy greatly - though I haven't actually joined in there yet) :)

My imagination has gotten me in serious trouble along spiritual lines. What's real is quite enough for me. My problem is not with the items themselves. My problem is with them being placed in a section of this site called the Armoury of God. Jesus drove out salesmen from the temples. Why? His main reason was because they were 'robbers'. Why not the people in the streets? Because the temple was His Father's house. Don't stick non-Christian things in the armoury of God. If some renaming is in order, fine.

The very first thing that you see in the Armor section is the verse from Ephesians about the Armor of God. And as for them mostly being in the 'special' category, (I didn't mean to make this a gigantic deal, but perhaps it'd be best) look at Snowy's list.

Or maybe we should ask Erwin to pray about sacrificing some things representing Christianity for the site's popularity...
There are fun things on here, but the things that aren't good, noble, or right should not be put under a Christian label (IE (not around here, but the concept of) a "Christian" first person shooter)

Hey there!
You know...we have a couple of dedicated volunteers who spend hours making these little things and uploading them into the armory. They've put in a lot of time to help make the armory something fun for all people. First, I think that we need to take some time to thank them for all their hard work.
If you've got a problem with an armory item, please PM a staff member about it, and we can discuss it. If you don't like the title of the armory, please PM a staff member. If there's anything else you don't like, please PM a staff member, and not take it up publicly in this forum.
Frankly, LibertyChic and Freak4JC do not need to hear your complaints. They don't make policy, they aren't able to change the name of the armory, and they don't need to be caught in the middle of 2 groups of members, one group who thinks that purple fuzzy earmuffs are evil and the other that wants to know where their purple fuzzy earmuffs went. (Just using that as an example.)
I'm sorry if I sound a little bit irritated...I guess that I am. I don't think that volunteers should be treated the way that they have been in this thread. This is the "Armor Request" thread, not the "Gripe about the Armory" thread.
In the future, please thank LibertyChic and Freak4JC for their contribution. If you have a problem, take it up with a staff member privately.
Thank you for taking the time to read this important moderator message.
I am closing this thread for 24 hours to ensure that everyone has read this message. Please keep your requests to yourselves until I reopen this thread later.

1) Please don't get LibertyChic and Freak4JC caught in the middle of two parties who vehemently disagree on whether or not an item should be in the armory. Since they aren't involved in policy decisions, it puts them in a very awkward place.
2) I do understand the ongoing concern about items that are in the armory. Some items will be clearly rejected, others are clearly accepted. However, there are discretionable items that aren't quite so clear-cut.
3) These are just little gimmicks...probably not worth getting very upset about. If there is an item that you doesn't represent your branch of Christianity, don't equip it! (An example...The Church of the Nazarene has a strong stance against alcohol in any form. I would never equip a mug of beer in my profile. I had a hard enough time going into Reilly's Pub the first time, until Praxiteles offered me a cuppa tea :). But I understand that not all Christians share the same convictions as I do about alcohol, so I'm not offended that someone else would choose to equip alcohol.)
I do want to let you know that I'm working with some of the rest of the staff to develop a way for you to let us know of an item that you don't think should be in the armory. Until we've set up some procedure on this, please do exactly one thing: PM me. Please do not publically post about items that you don't feel should be in the armory, as that only serves to offend or upset people who have different convictions than you. When I receive a PM, I'll do some research, and coordinate with Erwin and the rest of staff to make a decision, and then we'll make a public post if something will be removed, so everybody knows.
For now, that is the most fair thing that we can do. I hope that everyone understands. If you have a concern, please PM me... Let me take the heat, instead of our wonderful volunteer shopkeepers! :)

Thanks so much for all your hard work, WesleyJohn. I'm sure Freak4JC would agree with me when I say we appreciate you. :) I especially love point #3 here.
