Any ideas on how to show love in the political forums? :)
By casting a vote for me when I decide to run for President? http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/4/4_1_204.gif
On a serious note, Celtie answered it best. However, the political forums can be used as a form of entertainment when reading some of the thoughts presented... ^_^

SandyLou-glad to hear you are doing well, but I am sorry to hear about your sister's house. Hoping repairs came fast and easy. And hoping Ivan will just go someplace else! :) I know, not probably going to happen, but I pray for God's hand to still the storm.
seeking.IAM- Glad you found your way over! Welcome!
ClementofRome-I have no idea why your candle would just disappear. The first thing I would do is check your Control Panel to make sure it is still "equipped". If not, let me know. Maybe something happened in some of the changes that Erwin did a couple of days ago.
WiredSpirit-Good question! I think sometimes we get so tied up in our own viewpoint that we forget that the person on the other side has their own experiences and viewpoints and while we don't agree with them, they are certainly entitled to their viewpoint. I read something this weekend that really helps me at times and I'll pass it on, maybe it will came in handy for you sometime. I was reading about how we are made in the image of God, all men and women. Not just me, but everyone. Even that person that I am arguing with. They have worth because God created them, just as he created me. Now, I may not agree with them, but that doesn't mean that they are any less or deserve any less than I do. God loves them. I need to treat them as such. Which might mean toning down my retorts or replies. I don't have to change my opinion, but I can express it in a more loving manner. I can pray for the person I am arguing or disagreeing with. And not one of those "Lord, show them where they are wrong" prayers, but "If I am wrong, please show me" and "How can I help the other person to see my viewpoint without alienating them in the process?" I hope those of those suggestions help.
This conversation comes up often with my mother. My mom works for a law firm, and she shares a different political view then the majority of the people (partners) in the firm. Her political party is ofter ridiculed and put down while she really has no defense because she is a secretary and her job has been threatened if she were to basically stand up and speak her mind. I feel that is so unfair. While the "powers that be" are certainly entitled to their opinions, the last time I looked this was America and we had the right to have a differing opinion. However, in some places that just isn't the case.

I think so Kokopelli. I noticed this morning when I came on, mine was 80/100. When I started posting, it went up to 100/100. So that is my guess. I haven't found anything official on it has of yet. Hopefully something will be posted about it soon! :)

Yup, that's what it is. I just read about it under support. You need to average 7 posts per day to keep health at 100%. Stupid idea in my opinion.

Just thinking about the Kathy Troccoli song. . .
We are a family whose hearts are blazing
We raise our candles and light up the sky
Praying to our Father, "In the name of Jesus
Make us a beacon in darkest times!"
Carry your candle, run to the darkness
Seek out the helpless, deceived and poor
Hold out your candle for all to see it
Take your candle and go light your world.
C'mon. . .let's go!http://www.anchoredbygrace.com/smileys/OLA.gif

I was listening to the kathy Troccoli version on the radio as I was posting -
TOTALLY wasn't thinking about it!
YES! Chris Rice wrote it and so (in my opinion too!)
does a better presentation.
If only more of us listened to the words behind it. . . . . :sigh:
We candle holders have to do what we can

well what I'm about to say may be a little controversial, I am moving halfway across the country in order to live with my partner and his mum. I shall have my own room, or else for obvious reasons it wouldn't be possible, but this also means a greater chance of better worship more frequently (if u would like to know why please ask). Alex and I have been together for over 2 years now but the distance is very hard to overcome at times and we feel stronger and better equipped to face lifes difficulties when we are together. I shall be staying there for a year and then going to uni somewhere else next year, to study psychology.
I spent last week at Alex's house trying to decorate my room and spending quiet time with God, also went for a job interview and got the job!!!
I feel that God is with me in this move Dawn, Alex's mum is a devout christian and actually is one of the only people I can turn to at the moment for spiritual guidance and support, we went to church together last week and spent alot of time praying to God about this move and we are sure we have both had the same confirmation that it is right for me to be there! if u want to hear more about the reasons why we are both so sure feel free to ask I shall not be at all offended. Thankyou sooo much for the prayers I'm very very excited because everything is coming together so well!!!
I love u all,

Sorry I haven't been around much the past few days, I have been working on a prayer shawl for the secretary at church. She was diagnosed with diabetes 2 weeks ago, then with breast cancer last week. Luckily it was small and non-invasive so she should be ok. Anyway, I have the shawl done except for the fringe, and I can't do that until my husband gets home tonight. I had thought I had a skein of the yarn and color I'm using in my stash, but I was wrong. So wonderful hubby is picking me up a skein of the right stuff today.
I hope to do the fringe in time for my daughter to take the shawl with her to youth group and give to Sam who will pass it on to Carrie who heads up a prayer ministry. This group will be responsible for knotting the fringe, each knot representing one prayer that is said for Patsy (the secretary).
So that is what I have been up to in the real world. How about you guys and gals?

PRAYER REQUEST
Today, the brother of one of my best friends died of a heart attack (45years old) while at the gym working out. The family is simply at wits end. Additionally, I learn that another friend is in the hospital after a drug overdose (44 years old) and may not make it....on life support. He had moved to the other side of the state a few years ago and I never even knew he had an addiction problem. I say him back in August and he looked worn out, but I do too! I go back with all of these folks 23 years, and they knew each other as well.
Not been a good day for my old cliq. Pray for these two families. Not having their permission, I must leave them anonymous. God knows who they are.

Thank you so much for asking. I have been hesitant to update due to the fact that there are conflicting reports and would not want to misinform. One report is that he is now somewhat responsive and will make a full recovery. Another report is that it is more serious than that. I tend to believe the second report, but am not jumping the gun. At any rate, it appears that his life is no longer in danger at present, but that there could be some permanent damage. Just waiting to see.

Luke 1:30-33
And the angel said to her, "Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. And the Lord God will give to him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom there will be no end."

Well, all the "must be done by Christmas" crocheting is finished, all gifts that needed purchased have been, I have 25 snowflakes drying and waiting for their smiley faces (for son's school party), I "scarfed" a family of 8 on Sunday (ie--gave each one a scarf for no apparent reason) and mailed out all my cards. Now I just need to pack everything into the van on Friday, along with clothing for 4 for a 10 day trip, take son to Bible Bowl, followed by lunch with friends before heading to PA.
Side note--please pray for nice weather on the 21st and 24th. My husband and 2 of his brothers will be flying to and from Idaho on those dates. They are going to visit their father who has end stage cancer. Thanks.

We are afraid our indoor cat slipped out for some reason (she usually avoids the thought of going out). Tiger (the cat) is my son's pet. We hope that a neighbor has taken her in and we can get her back soon.

Just a quick update on the missing cat (for the animal lovers in the group). Turns out she was hiding under the house, in the crawl space. It took a day and a half to get her to come close enough to be caught. She has lost a little weight (we do not know how long she was out) but other than that she is fine. In fact, she is sitting on the desk enjoying a bath as I type this. But she seems to have lost her "yarn ettiquette". She used to leave it alone as I crocheted, now she wants to play with it (ICK!! wet yarn!!). Oh well.

I've noticed it has been quiet lately. I know some people have been busy with other things (;) herev), and some of us have been fighting off colds and flu and other ailments. Me--I've been helping my husband track down non-paying customers. Kinda puts me in a foul mood which I try not to inflict on my friends here.

Luckily my part in the process is just on paper. What gets to me is seeing how much some of the people owe. I can usually ignore that number unless I have to fill out the skip trace forms. Usually I just need the address off the receipt.
Today a got to do a good letter. A customer needed his account history and last receipt. He had bought a lot of stuff in the past year and his balance was 0!!!!! (I like guys like that!)
Kids are home today, so not a lot of housework will get done. I have a class to get ready for tomorrow (teaching 3rd - 5th graders to crochet) and there is always something in the yarn basket to work on. Three more rounds and my angel doily will be done!

I totally understand THAT!
I tell people that I teach FISHING. . . .not necessarily CATCHING
Fishing is more fun and less clean up work. . . *giggle*
But it's mostly the kids from the church's "neighborhood program" so taking them out into God's creation seems a logical way to expose them to thoughts, ideas and dreams they haev never experienced! And I always manage to learn something from them as well.

ZOEGirl has gone on several missions trips (or so I'm told). They partner with an organization called "Big World Ventures" that helps them bring people along. Anyone can go on the trip (although it's probably past the deadline now). During the 10 days in July, participants will be involved in church projects, orphanages, retirement homes, etc. They will also help do some street evangelism and help with the major ZOEGirl evangelistic outreach.
I'm actually going as a representive of our Christian Radio Station, and will be calling in (by Satellite Phone) to give updates to the listeners each day.
Thanks for the prayers.

Christmas is rather busy for me. I'll be working a good bit around it (raising money for mission trips and college), I'm performing in a Christmas musical at my Church and then I'm singing in a Christmas cantada with the "adult" choir. A couple days before Christmas I'm heading down to stay with my cousin and her hubby in Fl. And then spending Christmas day with both sides of the family (morning with mom's afternoon/evening with dad's). Then back home to start on the next musical I'm in. :)

Penguin50388
1st January 2006, 09:15 PM
So, I've been reading some of the posts here. How can I get inducted into this order?
The way that a person gets inducted into the Order is an existing member notices you portraying one of the attributes we look for in posters. They will then send you a PM of induction, and either they, or one of the Candle Holders will bless you with a Candle. And that's it. The order is close to dying out right now... but I am about to try to re-amp it with any existing members who are willing to help, so go make some good posts and if an Order member notices you, you might be inducted, but there might not be any inductions for a month or so, depending on how long it takes to get the Order back on it's feet.
Penguin50388
1st January 2006, 09:21 PM
Let's get this Order going again! Any existing members who want to help are more than welcome to.
First, we need to decide on a leader (be it permanent or Interim, they will discuss with WesleyJohn when/if he comes back).
Next, we need to get the existing Order Members back.
Thirdly, find the Candle Holders (who has them)
Lastly, invite more people and spread the ideals of the Order over CF (Peace, Love, Harmony, all good stuff :P )
Any existing Order Member willing to be leader post by Jan. 14th that you will be willing and then I will make a poll in an undisclosed location (I have some forums that aren't really forums (I'm the only member and they aren't really about anything) and I'll make the poll there so as to not have people who are not in the order mess up the vote) for the Order Members to Vote.
All existing Order Members, please post in this thread so I can send you the PM with the voting place.
I would be willing to be an interim leader until WJ shows back up or I ship out for basic.

hey hun,
where've ya been lols, r u gud?
I have a job at another internet community, which keeps me very, very busy, especially since I was just given more duties there. As much as I enjoy it, I'm always a day late and a dollar short when it comes to my work there.
thankyou for the complement i think?
Of course, it's a compliment!
in what way am i doing a good job?
As always, you're a good example to all and a faithful friend. What more could I ask from a Christian sister who I asked to take my place here that she outstrip me in being both these things, hmm? :)
hope ur well,as ever u r in my prayers and thoughts,

Thank you, Cat! I especially appreciate your prayers at this time.
May God bless you richly!
I hope everyone here has a blessed Easter!

So how was Easter everyone? mine was fairly uneventful really, but spirit filled none the less. Heard this great preacher who was goin on about Good Friday and he was like (to paraphrase) yes its Friday and its awful and the guards have come to take Jesus but SUNDAY'S COMING! :) and I just keep thinking what a great way to live our lives, cos we know that times are hard now but one day we'll be with him, our sunday is definitely coming!!!

Hello everyone. I am not sure if there is anyone around who even still rememebrs me. I looked back and the last time I was on was like 2004. Wow, things have sure changed. I knida miss the Final fantasy type figures but the new figures are ok too. Here is a quick synopsis of what has happened in my life. I moved from Iowa back to Kentucky, which I was happy about. Then things kinda went downhill, I have gone from being homeless with my family to now I no longer have a car etc. Well things are starting to look up. I have a good job, my family and I have a place to stay. I have come back to God. We still do not have a car but one step at a time. I am glad to be back and hello all. Please pray for me as I am going through tough times. God Bless

Things are going great for me! My husband was blessed with a wonderful new job, we had to move to a new city about 2.5 hours away from our old town - and we were also blessed to find a lovely house that we could afford. God is good!

Hmm, are there more than one candles out there? Are you the keeper of the flame now? :) Lucky! I promise to read all these pages more so I know what's going on, and we can get this Order going again!

Hello nanz2688!
Welcome to Wesley's Parish! :) I think you'll find that most of the action in our parish at the moment is in the fellowship thread (called the ASA thread). Please feel free stop by and say hello!

When CF started with the armory objects to purchase, WesleyJohn came up with the idea of gaining control of all the candles. If you were offered and accepted a candle and inclusion into the "secret club" you were supposed to let your light of love shine here on CF. (ie show love, honesty, compassion, unity etc to other members of CF). It was a for fun type thing that has, alas, fallen by the wayside.

Well, I'm not an order member, but I'm a Methodist with a candle and a strong desire to let my light shine for the glory of God.
Maybe we could resurrect this, not as a secret by-invitiation-only society, but rather as a simple voluntary gathering of those of anyone who wishes to commit to letting their light shine here on CF.

I'm game for the candle holding, but I guess I'll have to put down my french horn. hmmmmm......and I couldn't hold my tricorder any more. Or my ice cream.
hmmmmmm......
I LOVE Playing dress up here. Maybe we could convince someone to design a special background. I want to promote unity AND play with my toys.

I received a candle from WesleyJohn a very long time ago. I just don't think the armory carries them any more and all items from CF 1.0 were deleted.

Actually there is a candle available. Look in the "assorted" file in the Special Items catagory. It isn't the same as the original, but it is a candle none the less.
