View Full Version : No true debates

After reading through several recent threads, I see that most who post here are not following true debate standards. There is a lot of arguing, but no debating.

If you disagree with me, I suggest the following format for airing our disagreement:

I. Peter: Resolved- "The art and rules of debate are not being followed by those who post in this forum."

- Opening statements with the afirmative (Peter) going first.
- Follled by three rounds of affirmative and rebuttal response.
- Closing comments

II. ?????: Resolved- "The art and rules of debate are being followed by those who post here."

- Opening statements with the affirmative (????) going first.
- Followed by three rounds of affirmative and rebuttal response.
-Closing comments

We can adjust the topics if needed. But I believe this proves my point.

Peace.

Peter

HI there!

While there are recommended form for debate, and while there is a recommended form for debate on this forum, it isn't an absolute requirement that any particular, formal debate format be followed.

What is important concerning format, is that when a format is agreed upon, that both sides adhere to the agreement.
