I'm going to an auction for the school my parents church has every year to raise money, they do pretty good with it and raise quite a bit of money. Usually they have pretty nice things too. Each classroom makes a quilt to auction off and you would think they are going to end up in a cat fight over these quilts.

My oldest boy, 40 and his girlfriend are moving down to Texas and if they don't have problems on the road will probably be there in a week. He's got a job on a ranch and she is an RN and thinks that she can find some work there. Don't know the name of the town. Pray for a safe trip since they are pulling a decreped travel trailer behind a derelic RV.

Hey everyone. Spring has sprung.
We took the kiddies out to Fort Ancient for a long hike. They had a good time. We slipped and slid down the steep ravine pathways because we've had a lot of rain lately. We walked along the Little Miami River, which was very high.
My three year old, Nate, was explaining to the girls scouts on the trail that there were skeletons around from the Indians. Then he started in on ghosts stories. He has a vivid imagination.
All three are sleeping like logs. :)

Wow, a new kitchen. Glad you guys kept busy while I was gone.
Thanks for all the prayers for my son. He is doing much better now, but has to have some tests this coming wednesday. What my son has is Epiplioc Appendigitis. The doctor at the ER we were at said he's only seen about 5 cases in his entire career, and he's in his 50's. Anyway, it was a bit scarey, and he was in a lot of pain, but the meds have helped and he's doing so much better.
Thanks again, my friends. I really appreciate your prayers. And thanks be to God for His mercy on our son.

Frequent prayer is good for us. It shows that we yearn to be with our Father. I had to give up praying on my knees a few years ago, too painful. It about broke my heart but now I feel just as good and know that He still hears my humble prayers.

As Latebloomer said in the Alehouse, we met on Friday. You would think that since we live about 11 miles from each other that would have happened sooner!
I was waiting to talk with the widow and give her a card that a friend had wanted me to give to her and I am approached and asked, "do I know you?'
Since this was at a funeral and there are usually many family members who are not from here, I gave my usual answer that I am the Pastor's wife.
Latebloomer then knew it is I from CF and introduced herself as LB. We had a nice chat.
Thanks for the compliments regarding the service. I shall pass them on to my hubby.

So I found this great new way to waste time when I'm supposed to be writing...LOL.
It's called Stumble Upon and it's an add on for Firefox. (I'm not sure if it works with other browsers...yet) Basically, you download it (no malware or anything like that) and it installs a tool bar. There's a button that says "Stumble!" and it will randomly go to a web page. The picks are based on what you tell the site when you sign up (like mine are ancient history, books, art, music, etc) and then you can rate pages you go to.
I've had the most fun pressing that button. LOL You never know what will turn up. I haven't seen anything objectionable either which is really cool.

When we got back to the car, the fire department had just finished putting out the fire. My guess, the plastic bumper shroud melted and caught fire. Dodge Spirit a la Fire.

Easy, went for picnic at the Owens Beach. After cooking some hot dogs, I had the not so bright idea of putting the bar-b-que under the front bumper of the car so others might not get hurt while we went for a walk and join up with some family members of mine. When we got back to the car, the fire department had just finished putting out the fire. My guess, the plastic bumper shroud melted and caught fire. Dodge Spirit a la Fire.

I remember how my grandparents lived when they were still on the farm. No running water, no indoor plumbing, wood burning stove in the kitchen. I remember the wood burning stove for heat before they converted to oil. They did have electricity and a phone. When they moved to town when I was a teenager, Grandma had to learn to cook all over again. They always had hot water--huge kettle on the back of the cook stove was always kept full.

Bloomer, have you ever cooked on a wood burning stove? If not, let me give you a hint; they're very hungry. One must constantly feed them firewood. Still, it is fun once in a while. By the by, that's where the phrase "she can't even boil water," comes from. It insinuated that someone couldn't keep the proper heat up on the stove. IE: they didn't feed the stove fast enough or correctly.

I've used it to cook only a couple things, but you can't control the temperature. It takes a while to get a good roaring fire going in a stove...you need to go slow with it really and build up. I've gotten to be a pro at ours!

My boy called tonight and the 500 acres that they are allowed to live on is going to be populated with like minded "end times" families. They are going to learn to live "off the grid" and be self-suffecient. Gee it's scary how kids grow up to be like their parents. I lived my whole life wanting to live like that but I was too lazy to realize that dream even though I do live somewhat like that now with a woodstove and oil lamps for electric outages, well water and using batteries and an inverter for emergencys. Nope, Grandma wouldn't let us touch that stove. But she sure cooked a lot of food on it. Nothing fancy, just plain farm food, big on her own farm-raised chickens and home grown vegetables.
Years ago, I remember seeing a professional wrestler on TV (I wandered through a room where someone else was watching). He was supposed to be a hillbilly type, and he was showing how he trained. First he had to warm up the kitchen. I laughed my head off when he walked up to a cookstove exactly like Grandma's and threw the firewood into the oven! I'm having a hard time right now. :sigh:
I had to take Oscar to the vet tonight. He started vomiting bile last night and his breathing became erratic and very hard.
The Vet did some x-rays and pretty much came to the same conclusion I had...he has congestive heart failure and dilated cardiomyopathy. (which is a fancy way of saying that his heart is enlarged and there is fluid filling his chest cavity.) He also has arrhythmia and tachycardia.
So, we started him on some diuretics and heart pills and I'm to watch him until Friday and then call and give the Vet an update. From her tone and directions, I don't think she expects him to get any better. In fact, I think she's trying to get me ready for the worst.
I know that to some, he's "just a cat". I understand that there are people who don't have the attachments that others have to their pets.
But Oscar is my baby. He's been my best friend and constant companion for the last 13 years. I saw him being born. I chose him from the moment he arrived in this world...I am his "mommy". He's my BOY. My Oscarmonster. My baby. *small laugh* Heck, I love him more than I love most people. *g* He sure is sweeter.
And it's not like I didn't know it was going to happen..."someday". I just didn't expect "someday" to be "soon". And I just have the feeling that it's going to be a matter of days instead of the months and years I'd hoped for when this started.
I don't know what to ask for with all of this. I want to ask for prayers that he'll get better. I don't know how some would take that...but...if you all can find it in your hearts...could you pray for him?
And please, pray that, when the time comes, I can make the right decision.
Because it's going to be the hardest thing I'll ever have to do.
Thanks everyone for listening to me ramble on. Love you all bunches 'n stuff!

It's not silly to love Oscar as much as you do. I had my girl, Natasha, for close to 19 years. :( The pain is real and love is only as large as our ability to give it, so it's no surprise that you're hurting.
Oscar is a big part of your life and there's nothing to apologize for in admitting that losing him will hurt. Just remember how special you were to him and how much better you made his life, too. He is fortunate to have you as a mommy and I'm certain he knows that.

kae,
I understand. I'd feel bad too if I were to lose Delilah. She is the first cat we've had that actually tends to like me. I would miss her if she died. I'll upload a picture of her sometime.

Kae I understand. I lost my riding horse a few years ago, she got sick, we took her to the vet and she didn't get over it, we ended up having to put her down, she was my riding buddy. When the vet come out here to put her to sleep, I couldn't go out there and watch. I still hadn't found a horse to replace her, I still makes me sad when I think about her. I still miss her

aw, I'm about to cry. One of the toughest things is the decision to put down a pet. Our kitty wasn't even 5 when we had to have her put to sleep because of a tumor that had taken over her ribcage. It was absolutely horrible for me to do, but it was so peaceful for her.
I'll keep you guys in my prayers, Kae. The Lord will be your strength.

Thank you everyone for the wonderful support and prayers.
Oscar seems to be breathing better today. I gave him another diuretic pill this morning 'round 10 and he's made some more "concrete" in the litter box. (:D) He's currently sleeping in his 2nd favorite spot...behind our "ugly chair".
He slept with me all night last night. We had some good snuggle time and I talked with him and told him how much I love him and that, if he needs to go, it's okay with me. He's been a great buddy and...well...he's my baby.
Thanks again everyone.

Hi everyone! Golly I missed you all! I was going totally bonkers wondering what was going on with everyone! But here you all are! http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c370/Kaemea/yahoo.gif
I sort of like the new colors. I agree that the font is pretty light but I'm not too fussed about it. It was so boring without all of you! http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c370/Kaemea/cactus.gif
So, what did everyone do for their couple of days "vacation" from TCL?? I did pretty much nothing except clean and take care of Oscar and the other kitties. Oscar's breathing is pretty much back to normal and he seems to be a bit perkier. He's still not eating as much as before but I'm wondering if that's because of the drugs. I'm going to call the vet tomorrow and see if we can't take the diuretic down to twice a day instead of thrice a day.
Anyway, I'm so happy the board is back! W00t and all of that!!
Kae. (I sure hope my smilies move for y'all. They're cute ones!)

I hate changes! Just spent over an hour piddling around rebuilding my CF character. Grrrr....
How does one get the background to cover the whole background??? mine seem to only want to do a narrow strip....
Someone was mentioning a problem with an older pet (was it Kae and Oscar???). Not able at the moment to scroll back and check. I'm in a similar boat. Nana (at my feet) is getting older at thirteen and I'm facing that time she will no longer be with me. So I spend all the time with her I can. She goes with me on my jobs. Often Nana just stays in the car (or crawls under it). Sometimes, when I'm working in the yard, Nana barks to be let in the car at home. She just likes sleeping on the seat. Silly girl.:)
