China Prayer Calendar

June 23-July 9, 2004

Matthew 25:37-40 Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, “L-rd, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You?Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?”And the King will answer and say to them, “Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.”

China Team: Greg, Julie, Steve, Sean, Erin

Mission: To help spread the Hope and Salvation of Yeshua in Communist China by encouraging underground cell churches, assisting and loving neglected Chinese orphans at various orphanages and being a witness in one of the darkest and most persecuted places in the world.

Date: Scripture Study: Prayer Needs:

Before June 23rd Romans 1:16 Please pray for the team as we prepare for this mission mentally, physically, spiritually and emotionally. Also, please pray that the hearts of the people we come into contact with will be ready to receive the Good News of Salvation!

June 23rd Psalm 139:23-24 Please pray for our safety, as the entire team will have to travel over 24 hours to reach our first destination: Beijing!

June 24th Romans 13: 11-12 Please pray for our team as we start our travels across mainland China by train to visit several orphanages and cell churches.

June 25th John 14:27 Please pray for our health under the harsh conditions of traveling, sleep loss, strange food and culture shock.

June 26th Jeremiah 20:9 Please take this day to pray for the Chinese people, that they may come to know Yeshua as the Messiah and withstand the oppression of a Communist Government.

June 27th Luke 12:4 Please take this day to pray for those who are persecuted in China for simply being followers of Yeshua. Pray for the persecuted churches, Pastors and followers, that they may be given strength to endure being persecuted for His sake.

June 28th Psalm 82:3-4 Please pray for the orphans that we are visiting in several different orphanages. These children are rejected by their own people and live in desperate conditions. Most of them have severe disabilities and have been disowned by their families. Pray that we can show them as much love and care as possible.

June 29th Romans 8:15 Please remember to pray for the team’s families, that they will have peace and not worry about this mission.

June 30th Romans 8:31-39 Please pray for us as we train Chinese Pastors of cell churches. Please pray that our translator will understand us all and that we will communicate effectively to encourage these special Pastors.

July 1st Matthew 28:20 Please pray for the team’s continued safety and health.

July 2nd John 10:10 Please pray for continuous opportunities to share the Gospel in our travels.

July 3rd Matthew 10:16 Please pray that our team will operate in discernment and that in our weariness we will not have clouded judgment.

July 4th 2 Corinthians 3:17 Please pray for liberty and freedom in China as you celebrate yours today on the Fourth of July: Independence Day!

July 5th Isaiah 52:10 Please lift up Greg, our team leader, in prayer.

July 6th Psalm 37:11 Please pray for the orphanages and those that work at them, that G-d will provide for their needs.

July 7th 1 Chronicles 16 Please offer thanks to G-d for His provision in all of our lives. Lift up our nation’s leaders in prayer and thank G-d for the freedom we have to be able to worship the Lord without fear of death or persecution.

July 8th Psalm 55:17 Please pray today as G-d leads you. Pray during a different time than usual. Pray for whatever G-d lays upon your heart about this mission and write it down so you remember.

July 9th Jeremiah 31:25 Please pray for our team as we start to debrief and get ready to return home. This can sometimes be the most difficult part of a mission, the journey home.

After July 9th Mark 16:15 Please pray for those we have come in contact with in China during this mission. Pray for their continued growth and G-d’s provision in their lives. Now it is time to pray about your future involvement in missions! Will you continue to give, or is it now your turn to go? With G-d, the possibilities are endless!

Since I consider MJ a home base of sorts, I thought I'd post the prayer calendar for my mission to China. In the past, MJ members have prayed for other missions and I thought I'd do the same as before by posting the prayer calendar here.

I leave in a couple days. Your prayers mean so much to our entire team. I will start my annual poll on how long everyone thinks it will take before I can log onto CF while I am in China. ;) It's all in good fun of course and you can win blessings if you guess correctly :D

Thank you in advance for your prayers and I will certainly update you upon my return.

This mission has a three-fold purpose:
1. To love and care for abandoned Chinese orphans
2. To encourage cell churches
3. To be a light to those who are in the dark

I will be able to be contacted until Wednesday evening. After that, you'll be in the good hands of JustinHulsey, Henaynei, The Thadman and of course Nehemiah_Center.

Thank you for your prayers and I'll miss ya'll while I'm gone.

In His Hands and Ready to Serve,
Pray4Isrel

Wow, the support from this place is overwhelming! :DNo response doesn't necessarily mean no support, it just means I have nothing to say. :P

Oh, considering how long you'll be gone, I went ahead and made this a sticky. ;)

Erin, the L-RD loves you and the members of your team very much. I have just come from praying for your smooth dealings at the AP and all the way to China. His spirit was very strong upon me so I know that you need and will have his most powerful protection.

Ahava, Zayit

He just gave me this scripture to comfort you.

No weapon formed against you shall prosper.................

Zec 8:1-9:17 HNV
The word of the LORD of Armies came to me. (2) Thus says the LORD of Armies: "I am jealous for Tziyon with great jealousy, and I am jealous for her with great wrath." (3) Thus says the LORD: "I have returned to Tziyon, and will dwell in the midst of Yerushalayim. Yerushalayim shall be called 'The City of Truth;' and the mountain of the LORD of Armies, 'The Holy Mountain.'" (4) Thus says the LORD of Armies: "Old men and old women will again dwell in the streets of Yerushalayim, every man with his staff in his hand for very age. (5) The streets of the city will be full of boys and girls playing in its streets." (6) Thus says the LORD of Armies: "If it is marvelous in the eyes of the remnant of this people in those days, should it also be marvelous in my eyes?" says the LORD of Armies. (7) Thus says the LORD of Armies: "Behold, I will save my people from the east country, and from the west country; (8) and I will bring them, and they will dwell in the midst of Yerushalayim; and they will be my people, and I will be their God, in truth and in righteousness." (9) Thus says the LORD of Armies: "Let your hands be strong, you who hear in these days these words from the mouth of the prophets who were in the day that the foundation of the house of the LORD of Armies was laid, even the temple, that it might be built. (10) For before those days there was no wages for man, nor any wages for an animal; neither was there any shalom to him who went out or came in, because of the adversary. For I set all men everyone against his neighbor. (11) But now I will not be to the remnant of this people as in the former days," says the LORD of Armies. (12) "For the seed of shalom and the vine will yield its fruit, and the ground will give its increase, and the heavens will give their dew; and I will cause the remnant of this people to inherit all these things. (13) It shall come to pass that, as you were a curse among the nations, house of Yehudah and house of Yisra'el, so will I save you, and you shall be a blessing. Don't be afraid. Let your hands be strong." (14) For thus says the LORD of Armies: "As I thought to do evil to you, when your fathers provoked me to wrath," says the LORD of Armies, "and I didn't repent; (15) so again have I thought in these days to do good to Yerushalayim and to the house of Yehudah. Don't be afraid. (16) These are the things that you shall do: speak every man the truth with his neighbor. Execute the judgment of truth and shalom in your gates, (17) and let none of you devise evil in your hearts against his neighbor, and love no false oath: for all these are things that I hate," says the LORD. (18) The word of the LORD of Armies came to me. (19) Thus says the LORD of Armies: "The fasts of the fourth fifth, seventh, and tenth months shall be for the house of Yehudah joy and gladness, and cheerful feasts. Therefore love truth and shalom." (20) Thus says the LORD of Armies: "Many peoples, and the inhabitants of many cities will yet come; (21) and the inhabitants of one shall go to another, saying, 'Let us go speedily to entreat the favor of the LORD, and to seek the LORD of Armies. I will go also.' (22) Yes, many peoples and strong nations will come to seek the LORD of Armies in Yerushalayim, and to entreat the favor of the LORD." (23) Thus says the LORD of Armies: "In those days, ten men will take hold, out of all the languages of the nations, they will take hold of the skirt of him who is a Jew, saying, 'We will go with you, for we have heard that God is with you.'" (9:1) An oracle. The word of the LORD is against the land of Chadrakh, and will rest upon Damascus; for the eye of man and of all the tribes of Yisra'el is toward the LORD; (2) and Chamat, also, which borders on it; Tzor and Tzidon, because they are very wise. (3) Tzor built herself a stronghold, and heaped up silver like the dust, and fine gold like the mire of the streets. (4) Behold, the Lord will dispossess her, and he will strike her power in the sea; and she will be devoured with fire. (5) Ashkelon will see it, and fear; `Aza also, and will writhe in agony; as will `Ekron, for her expectation will be disappointed; and the king will perish from `Aza, and Ashkelon will not be inhabited. (6) Foreigners will dwell in Ashdod, and I will cut off the pride of the Pelishtim. (7) I will take away his blood out of his mouth, and his abominations from between his teeth; and he also will be a remnant for our God; and he will be as a chieftain in Yehudah, and `Ekron as a Yevusi. (8) I will encamp around my house against the army, that none pass through or return; and no oppressor will pass through them any more: for now I have seen with my eyes. (9) Rejoice greatly, daughter of Tziyon! Shout, daughter of Yerushalayim! Behold, your king comes to you! He is righteous, and having salvation; lowly, and riding on a donkey, even on a colt, the foal of a donkey. (10) I will cut off the chariot from Efrayim, and the horse from Yerushalayim; and the battle bow will be cut off; and he will speak shalom to the nations: and his dominion will be from sea to sea, and from the River to the ends of the earth. (11) As for you also, because of the blood of your covenant, I have set free your prisoners from the pit in which is no water. (12) Turn to the stronghold, you prisoners of hope! Even today I declare that I will restore double to you. (13) For indeed I bend Yehudah as a bow for me. I have filled the bow with Efrayim; and I will stir up your sons, Tziyon, against your sons, Greece, and will make you like the sword of a mighty man. (14) The LORD will be seen over them; and his arrow will go flash like lightning; and the Lord GOD will blow the shofar, and will go with whirlwinds of the south. (15) The LORD of Armies will defend them; and they will destroy and overcome with sling stones; and they will drink, and roar as through wine; and they will be filled like bowls, like the corners of the altar. (16) The LORD their God will save them in that day as the flock of his people; for they are like the jewels of a crown, lifted on high over his land. (17) For how great is his goodness, and how great is his beauty! Grain will make the young men flourish, and new wine the virgins.

Luk 10:1-21 HNV
Now after these things, the Lord also appointed seventy others, and sent them two by two ahead of him into every city and place, where he was about to come. (2) Then he said to them, "The harvest is indeed plentiful, but the laborers are few. Pray therefore to the Lord of the harvest, that he may send out laborers into his harvest. (3) Go your ways. Behold, I send you out as lambs among wolves. (4) Carry no purse, nor wallet, nor sandals. Greet no one on the way. (5) Into whatever house you enter, first say, 'Shalom be to this house.' (6) If a son of shalom is there, your shalom will rest on him; but if not, it will return to you. (7) Remain in that same house, eating and drinking the things they give, for the laborer is worthy of his wages. Don't go from house to house. (8) Into whatever city you enter, and they receive you, eat the things that are set before you. (9) Heal the sick who are therein, and tell them, 'The Kingdom of God has come near to you.' (10) But into whatever city you enter, and they don't receive you, go out into the streets of it and say, (11) 'Even the dust from your city that clings to us, we wipe off against you. Nevertheless know this, that the Kingdom of God has come near to you.' (12) I tell you, it will be more tolerable in that day for Sedom than for that city. (13) "Woe to you, Kora'zin! Woe to you, Beit-Tzaidah! For if the mighty works had been done in Tzor and Tzidon which were done in you, they would have repented long ago, sitting in sackcloth and ashes. (14) But it will be more tolerable for Tzor and Tzidon in the judgment than for you. (15) You, Kefar-Nachum, who are exalted to heaven, will be brought down to She'ol. (16) Whoever listens to you listens to me, and whoever rejects you rejects me. Whoever rejects me rejects him who sent me." (17) The seventy returned with joy, saying, "Lord, even the demons are subject to us in your name!" (18) He said to them, "I saw Hasatan having fallen like lightning from heaven. (19) Behold, I give you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy. Nothing will in any way hurt you. (20) Nevertheless, don't rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven." (21) In that same hour Yeshua rejoiced in the Holy Spirit, and said, "I thank you, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden these things from the wise and understanding, and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for so it was well-pleasing in your sight."

Psa 140:1-13 HNV
<<For the Chief Musician. A Psalm by David.>> Deliver me, LORD, from the evil man. Preserve me from the violent man; (2) those who devise mischief in their hearts. They continually gather themselves together for war. (3) They have sharpened their tongues like a serpent. Viper's poison is under their lips. Selah. (4) LORD, keep me from the hands of the wicked. Preserve me from the violent men who have determined to trip my feet. (5) The proud have hidden a snare for me, they have spread the cords of a net by the path. They have set traps for me. Selah. (6) I said to the LORD, "You are my God." Listen to the cry of my petitions, LORD. (7) LORD, the Lord, the strength of my yeshu`ah, you have covered my head in the day of battle. (8) LORD, don't grant the desires of the wicked. Don't let their evil plans succeed, or they will become proud. Selah. (9) As for the head of those who surround me, let the mischief of their own lips cover them. (10) Let burning coals fall on them. Let them be thrown into the fire, into miry pits, from where they never rise. (11) An evil speaker won't be established in the earth. Evil will hunt the violent man to overthrow him. (12) I know that the LORD will maintain the cause of the afflicted, and justice for the needy. (13) Surely the righteous will give thanks to your name. The upright will dwell in your presence.

Our Chinese face a unique challenge in
sharing the Sabbath message, because in their calendar Saturday is
denominated as the sixth day (star cycle 6) and Sunday as the seventh
day of the week. . . .

The deceptive Chinese calendar with Saturday as the sixth day
and Sunday as the seventh day was apparently introduced by the
Jesuits who evangelized China. The outcome of this deception is that
the average Chinese thinks of Sunday as the seventh day. As you can imagine, this widely accepted deception makes it difficult for the average Chinese to accept the Sabbath as the biblical seventh day.

The attempt to legitimize Sunday as the biblical Sabbath by
designating it as the seventh day of the week in calendars is
nothing new. Calendars published in Western European countries with
the days of the week given horizontally, usually show Monday as the
first day and Sunday as the seventh day of the week.

Because I can :P

Seriously, my reasons were,
1) Erin is part of our community
2) She has provided this list of specific prayer for specific days
3) This thread doesn't exactly lend itself to much conversation, so it would fall from the first page pretty quick.

Ermm..... dunno about who instituted the seven days calendar and all that but prior to the Julian/gregorian calendar, the chinese followed the lunar calendar which is still kept today to observe chinese festivals.
So the chinese keeps both the comtemporary calendar and their lunar calendar.

Anyway the concept of sunday being the seventh day is very strong indeed because in chinese it is "xin qi yi"(being star cycle one, Xin qi being weekly cycle or in common understanding it just being day one of the week) "xin qi er" " xin qi san" and sunday is "xin qi tian". Which literally means "day one of the week", "day two of the week", "day three of the week" and sunday is "the day of the week"..... so forth

Another way of handling the days of the week is "li bai yi" "li bai er" li bai san" which roughly translate as "prayer day one", "prayer day two", "prayer day three" and sunday day is "li bai tian" which means "day of prayer/worship".

So the concept of sunday being the seventh day is already pretty much ingrained into the language itself so the teachings that Sabbath is Sabbath might cause a little confusion because in the language saturday is literally "the sixth day".
At least we dun have names of dead romans and norse gods in the name of our days :D

Note: Yi(1) Er(4) San(1) Si(4) Wu(3) Liu(4) Qi(1) Bah(1) Jio(3) Shi(2). These being the numbers one to ten and the numbers in the bracket is reference for the way they should be prounounced.
