I have been reading posts here and on other Messianic forums and I am very confused.
There seems to be many sects in the Messianic religion and none of them agree. All think they are the right ones. But they seem exactly the same to me.
How can I find out what the differences are?
On another forum someone sent me to the Nazerines. So I read a little about them. Here some have talked about the Karaisms and I looked them up and they don't seem any different to me. Also someone mentions something like the sacred namers? I know there must be more.
Is there any place for online Messianic studies? Is there any place to go to understand the differences in the sects?
:help:

As the contemporary manifestation of the Messianic Movement is fairly new - just getting it's walking legs about 100 years ago - most of the learning is still oral instruction - though there are a lot of books out there. As with traditional Judiasm, the best way is probably attaching yourself to a Messianic community that you have sought the L-rd about and place yourself under the tutorship of the rabbi and rebbitzen - if such a community exists within traveling distance from your home.
Lacking that, another method is surfing the web, googling terms you have questions about and prayerfully (*VERY*) sifting through the hits - then coming here and asking more questions ;)

A good Messianic syngagugue is a great place to learn. However, I do feel that the internet is a dangerous place to learn. It's a mixed bag with probably more bad than good. I would recommend instead of internet sources, books from a reliliable Messianic book seller. Messianic Jewish Resources is one source, but I have heard that their customer service is slow.

MJ has no central leadership, and almost all synagogues are different. So it is really up to what you feel.

Hi Lesha,
I would recommend you check out first Fruits of Zion www.ffoz.org/ as a place to start and as well www.torahresource.com
These are solid organizations. They are a great place to start.
Blessings,

There is recognized leadership in Messianic Judaism. There are congregational oversight organizations (IAMCS and UMJC). Networking among Messianic Jews serves to establish who is part of Messianic Judaism and who is not.
