For sometime now, maybe a few months, I have been stuck in a theological duel with a stuck-up muslim who claims simple discrepancies he finds in the fine details of synoptic Gospels and fourth Gospel are enough reason to ditch them as non-authorative hoax work, and you know, someone dare to throw such accusations to Gospels, I get fired up. Though, in these type of exchanges I always consider the advice in Proverbs 26:4-5, and clearly this fool needs to be answered.
The said thread is; Jesus/Isa, the Cross, and Islam
http://christianforums.com/t6349047-jesus-isa-the-cross-and-islam.html
His tactic is to spread and stretch the topic as he gets weak, and attack a different aspect of Christianity, while doing that he uses clean and smart language, which I think he does to cover up his ignorance on certain issues.
I have summoned a few brothers over there... As a muslim, one might not realize that Church had dealt with this kind of stuff for millenias now, and simply St. Mark's Third Hour and St. John's about Sixth hour is not a reason to believe that Gospels are not in harmony. But this knucklehead doesn't seem to get it. I would like to shut the issues down once and for all, but for the worst, I can't find time to dig deep in areas I am not that knowledgeable. Here is where you come in I hope. The thread is rather long, so please start from message number 175 and focus on his postings to date... Or pick a random issue you might read from his postings, the point is, since there is a lack of responding people to him, two or three, he thinks he handles it all, he doesn't.
His recent point was that since Synoptics and St. John's Gospel indicate different Passover dates, credibility of Gospels "plummet."
As far as I know, Oriental Orthodox also have a fair share of dealings with muslims and their theories against the Gospel so here is my invitation, come and see and contribute...
