Pope Shenouda III in Stevenage, UK 30 March 2008

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Today, 30 March 2008, His Holiness, Pope Shenouda III consecrated the new Coptic Cathedral of St. George in Stevenage in the UK. There were representatives of nearly all the Oriental Orthodox family there, and it was wonderful to see us all together in this beautiful place and on such a joyous occasion. Our brothers and sisters from the various Western traditions were also there in a wonderful display of Christian goodwill.

His Holiness, as ever, was inspiring. A great day!

The security of Heathrow airport quested H.H. Pope shenouda , The Egyptian ambassdor explained to them that this is the Alexandrian pope but they said we don't have instructions for the special vistors , The Egyptian ambassdor asked London formally for explanation for this .
The ambassdor said that the pope passed through the metal sensor gate

It was clearly the usual stupidity which afflicts anyone unfortunate enough to use Heathrow at the moment.

Just WHAT happened, Anglian? Some places report that he was body-searched and submitted to it quietly, BBC says they wanted to body-search him but he objected.... Do you have the full story? Don't worry, we won't protest individually! (I am not even a Copt to have the grounds to do it...)
