Private message but there is none

I've got my big red flashing "new private message" going off, and it says "private messages: 1" on the top right there.

But when I go to my inbox there are no new messages.

I had a similar problem. I selected the check boxes on the first page of my PM inbox. I then selected "Mark as read." The error went away after that.

It also happened to me quite a few times past few days, but then I realized that in fact I did have a private message, problem was that it was well hidden. Try and check if you have a message somwhere in your inbox hiding, if not....try and do what Letalis has suggested as it has also worked for me :)

Well the thing is there is nothing at all in my inbox (no old messages). I'm really organised at getting rid of them once read :)

So anyway, I went to my sent items folder (that's the only one with messages in it) and deleted everything there, since I didn't need them. That seems to have fixed the problem.
