I know that I should know the answer to this question, but I am not 100% sure. I try to follow the 613 laws of Moses, I eat Kosher, support Israel 110%, read the Torah, and think of myself as a Jew. Now I was born a Gentile, but my Grandmother said that we had a couple of Jewish people in our family history. Infact on both my mother's and father's side. Anyways I think of my self as a Jew, or Messianic Jew for the fact of the matter. But am I? Becaus I currently don't go to synagogue, celebrate the holidays, and was born a Gentile.

I'm in the same boat as you. And no -- we are not Jews, you and I. I know that I also have Jew further back (pre my maternal grandfather) in my family but cannot get my mom to talk about it. There are some definite criteria for what consitutes "being a Jew"... a quick search on here should yield some good posts/threads.

No we are not Jews MJ

But the good news is we ARE grafted in to Y'sreal through the root who is
Y'shua. And the path you take now is a good path. And as you grow in understanding
and stature of the scriptures and what they say you will see the beauty of the Law and the blessings of keeping it.

It can be a slow process but it is worth while. There is no need for you to consider replacing your brother nor to steal his birthright. For you have been adopted into the family and may share in his blessing. But remember that sharing is sharing not stealing.

I guess what I am trying to say is rather than force yourself to be a jew when you are not one be a righteous Gentile

Blessings
