Name change thread

A username is changed by using the Customizer (at the top of any page), not by staff.

I suggest a thread be created somewhere that logs nickname changes. I suppose one changes one's nickname by asking a staff member who then performs it. The proper procedure could be that the requester asks in the pertinent thread that his/her nickname be changed and a staff member implements it and posts the new and old nicknames. Unless name changes are frequent a thread should I think suffice. Otherwise a more difficult to implement tool may be appropriate.

As it is people who have changed their name are harder to identify. It would be convenient that one could check whether one knows someone under a different name.

Where can policy and practical information regarding name changes be found ? I only found christianforums.com/faq.php?faq=vb_user_maintain#faq_vb_update_profile. I wonder what good reasons people come up with.

Thank you for the information. The FAQ is very unclear about how one is supposed to change one's nickname. I think it should be explained better.

Nonetheless the usefulness of a name change thread does not depend does not depend on how one changes his/her nickname. I still would like to know who someone with a particular nick used to be. The technical implementation should be discussed, but unfortunately it would be a waste of time for me to work something out as the PTB consider it an honour to ignore my suggestions.

At least two threads criticising the PTB have disappeared from this forum. What happened ?
