View Full Version : Will the real Jews please stand up?

I have been a member of Christian forums, and the MJ section for quite a while now. Many people here have Hebrew sounding screen names, and some fly the Israeli flag or the magen David. I can tell by many of the discussions here that many did not grow up in a Jewish home by questions asked and answers given. How many people here have a documented Jewish lineage? I know that being a Messianic is becoming popular these days by the number of attendees at MJ assemblies that are not Jewish, so that is the reason for my question.

#1) Why do you ask? What are your motives?
#2) What do you mean by:
How many people here have a documented Jewish lineage?#3) Are you?
And yes... to answer your question, I have Jewish lineage. Two grandparents, but unfortunately, not through mother -->grandmother-->great grandmother---> etc. through the female lineage. Thus, halachically, since I was not raised in an observant home, but a secular home, I am not considered Jewish by the Orthodox. However, according to the reform, I do not need to convert.
To be recognized for Aliyah, I am currently going through an Orthodox conversion. At the moment, that is on hold until I decide how to handle the 'reject jesus' when I stand before the Beit Din at the end of the year (among a few other issues).

 Me? I'm not. Take me or leave me. G-d Himself gave me the name I use to post (and it definitely describes who He made me to be) when He began drawing me more toward Messianic JUDAISM and more and more away from gentilized christianity. I'm a baby, at five or so years on the journey toward Judaism... And I don't spend a lot of time yakking about my personal stands on here -- BTDT on other boards long ago -- now, I spend a lot more time reading and gleaning and fleshing out, then taking my thoughts before G-d in prayer privately, and to private discussions. If my Abba ever gives me an opportunity to convert without denying the true Yeshua, I will do so. Until then, I have to be satisfied where I am at.
How about you, HT?? Jew? Messianic? Hm, seems to me this question has been asked before?

Pray 4 knows about me and what I believe. Maybe you should ask her? Her and I used to have discussions before you all were on the forum. Do we need to go to the blood test discussion again?

Maybe you should ask her?
We've asked you, but you've chosen to be deceptive and coy with us.
Her and I used to have discussions before you all were on the forum.
I've been in the MJ section much longer than you. Though you were here at CF a couple of months before me, you didn't show up here in the MJ section until some time later.
But this is still besides the point of the thread... as well, you continue to dodge the question.
Your credibility is dwindling. You have an opportunity to correct that.... here, now.

Okay, this thread is getting ugly fast. Either hurry up and make your point, HT, or I'm shutting this thread down.

HT:
The point is, that people drift into here from the web, and from the Christian side, and think they are asking Jews, who were raised in a Jewish home questions about Judaism and Jewish culture. If there are no real Jews here, then what is the point of calling it Messianic JEWISH forum? Maybe Messianic would be a better terminology. Every once in a while some Jewish anti-missionaries pop in here and mess with you guys, but they don't believe in the Messiah, so does that really qualify? I also wonder what this big fixation with being Jewish is among the non-Jews these days? Would people be so quick to do this if they were living in the Germany in the 1940's? I think it is kind of ironic that Christians are not allowed to debate people on the Messianic Judaism forum, most whom are former Christians, who are not Jewish. You must admit that it is kind of confusing.

I have to lock this thread for the time being.
Everyone, cool off.
However, when it comes to the function of this forum, please PM the staff memebrs first before taking it out on the MJ participants.
Thank you.
