this is not post number one - the cf time warp put it here.
also, the kosher for passover foods go on sale after passover and that is a good time to get them for less money if you like those foods. :)

I have purchased a turkey for the Seder. Don't laugh but has anyone here ever ate or fixed stuffing made from matzah. and how did it turn out

it is not too bad.... just remember to soak it a bit before mixing - unless you use a good bit of fluids in the stuffing using dry matzoh will make a very dry stuffing ;)
you might even try your recipe before Pesakh in a chicken or as oven pan stuffing to get things right and confident ahead of the big day :D

Very interesting. Thanks!
And now, back to the regularly scheduled thread...How is Matzoh stuffing? ;)Manischewitz makes a stuffing mix, sort of like stove top stuffing I guess. It is kosher for all year round including Passover. You can add whatever you like to it to make it tastier, chicken brooth, onions, raisins, apples ( will help in making it moister) nuts, mushrooms, etc.
It also has have dried onions, peppers, parsley, garlic , pepper dill, paprika celery seed. and vegetable shortening. It is vegetarian so if you want a more turkey flavor, use some turkey broth or chicken smaltz.
My recommendation is to buy a few boxes and experiment with it now, don't wait until Passover. :)

You can't make Kosher matzah yourself? I made it with flour, water and salt in under 18 minutes? Can't you buy kosher flour and salt? Is water unkosher? As usual, what am I missing? ;) yes, you can make it, here's a recipe to try.
Kosher-For-Passover Matzo (Parve, Passover) (http://kosherfood.about.com/od/pesach/r/matzo.htm)
This is all you need
INGREDIENTS:
cold water from the faucet
special flour called kemach shel matzah shamura
But it is very hard to find this flour. Best buy your matzah and save making it homemade for after passover for fun!
I personally have to make my own. The Shamura Gluten free matzah I need I can't afford as it is over $10 a board! and I need enough for a seder for all and all week, so mine won't be so pure, but hey, yeast is in the air, we can never get rid of it all , that is why we need Yeshua! :)

chopped onion
chopped celery
chopped garlic
like a pound of kosher sausage
hand full of chopped herbs like rosemarry, Thyme and basil
Chicken broth
several eggs
lots of pepper
a box of crushed matzo and a couple of prayers.
It's pretty good baked with the turkey. Or baked in a pan.
We have had it every year. This year we will have a vegetarian version.

I have not tried matzah stuffing, but if I were going to, I think I'd go for homemade Matzah. ;) Just a thought.

As usual, what am I missing? ;)that was a good start and well intended:thumbsup: .... but flour off the shelf is chometz for Pesakh - that is one reason we have to get rid of all flour (along with numerous other things) for Passover.... the flour from the grocery store may well be Kosher for year'round use, but not for Passover.... it is about what chometz the flour may have come in contact with during the manufacturing.... stuff that is kosher year'round may not be kosher for passover - that is why we buy things that are *marked* Kosher l'Pesakh, KLP or Kosher for Passover.... :)

Ah! I have seen "Kosher for Passover", but never thought it meant much different than "Kosher".
Ok, so back before Matzah making factories, what did people do?

Ah! I have seen "Kosher for Passover", but never thought it meant much different than "Kosher".
Ok, so back before Matzah making factories, what did people do?there are specially designated portions of the wheat crop that is handled specially to prevent any chance it has come in contact with any chometz or has become moist and thus started to ferment/leaven....

also, the kosher for passover foods go on sale after passover and that is a good time to get them for less money if you like those foods. :) Many are on sale at my market for weeks now. I would urge those who can only get some product this time of year not to wait until after Passover, it may not be there and not again until next year.
That is why I bought my marshmallows weeks ago. ;)

Now I'm post #15
post #15 where do you get Kosher sausage?? I don't know where she gets her's but I'll tell you where I get mine. :)
I do have some shipped to me from a kosher butcher, it's ok but my favorite, when I can find it, and I just had some last night, the italian style, not to hot just right, is Jewish Soul food!
That's right , it's called Neshama and it not only is kosher, but organic!
They have many flavors and when I see it at my store I buy a bunch of packages. No nitrates either!
Here, check it out. (http://verypeculiarpeople.forumotion.com/kosher-gf-sources-f14/fleishig-meat-but-also-in-this-thread-prepared-fish-t9.htm?highlight=sausage) post #5
I've had the Italian and the country apple and both are very good! you can slice them in half and the casting peels off it you aren't too fond of that.
I just love them and now, since I cooked up the last package last night have to hope the store gets some more in soon. :)

You can't make Kosher matzah yourself? I made it with flour, water and salt in under 18 minutes? Can't you buy kosher flour and salt? Is water unkosher? As usual, what am I missing? ;)Here, this may help
If you mix such flour with water, and leave it undisturbed, under optimum conditions it will become chometz in eighteen minutes. If, however, the flour touched hot water, or salted water, it becomes chometz INSTANTLY.
Also, if flour touches water that is mixed with another liquid, it becomes chometz instantly. Ironically, things like apple juice cannot cause flour to ferment, but apple juice mixed with water causes the mixture to ferment and become chometz instantly.
You cannot simply buy flour from the store and make matzah with it. In the first place, flour today is processed. It is often washed, which makes it chometz. Grain is usually tempered, which means it is soaked in water to soften it. Many flours are bleached. Any one of these processes make the grain chometz. There are other problems as well.

Oh boy, are you guys ever making me want to live elsewhere! :P Yummy!
Saddly, my grocery store doesn't even carry matzah. I even asked at customer service. "Massah...what's that? Isn't that some kinda cracker?" :sigh:
I have to make a trip to an international grocery store to get it. That's ok though...it's a good excuse to go.

 the pastries are not at a grocery store that I know of - they were in an e-mail that i got from a judaica store. but there are some grocery stores in the area with kosher items and some with kosher butchers.
