I can only speak for what I know of SBC. We are not political nor do we tend to vote as a block. However, in recent years it's my opinion most voted republican.

I have no idea what a republican is, so off to the dictionary I go.

Republican = a person who favors a republican form of government.

Republic = a state in which the head of government is not a monarch or other hereditary head of state.

No wonder I didn't know what it meant. I am Canadian!

The United States is a Republic, not technically a Democracy even though often called such.

The OP was asking about the Republican political party. As opposed to the other major political party in the US, the Democratic party.

In Canada we seem to have the political swing between Liberal and Conservative, even though there are other political parties.
I do understand what the OP was asking and was simply hinting that all baptists cannot be republican since some of us baptists come from countries with different political stands.
Was the same question asked of Lutherans?

You'd find out more information by going to Wikipedia's article on the Republican Party (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Republican_Party_%28United_States%29). Also, check out Wikipedia's article on the Democratic Party (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Democratic_Party_%28United_States%29).

Personally, I am a moderate to liberal Baptist and I vote Democrat.

Absolutely not. I'm a liberal Democrat, and both my parents - one of which was a pastor - are also Democrats.

Don't believe the hype. Baptists, like any other large group, are far too varied for facile generalizations.

For years I voted straight democratic ticket. Then I started praying that God would lead me to who He wanted in office. Since that time I have voted both democrates and republicans.
