I'm at a crossroads right now and I don't think I've ever been this happy in my spiritual journey. This past weekend has really left me feeling refreshed and relaxed. It was great seeing everyone again and meeting the new people. I can't wait until the next retreat The last time I remember being so happy and content was when I discovered the writings of Bishop Spong and threw off the shackles of conservative Christianity and moved towards the light at the end of the tunnel.

This past weekend has made me really consider the Episcopal Church as a possible home. I was raised AoG/Pentecostal and spent the majority of my High school years as a Southern Baptist so needless to say the high church aspect of Christianity was foreign to me until I came to college. I've really fallen in love with it and have enjoyed it along with going to PROWL (People Reaching Out With Love on Tuesday night. Both PROWL and Canterbury Club have both opened up their arms and made me feel welcome which has been a rare experience on my journey throughout Christianity. I'm just glad that I'm able to do both and not have to choose between them.

Wonderful, Kaonashi! :)

So do you think your experience has been so good because of the warmth and welcome you've received? It is so important, and we all know examples of churches where that element is sadly missing (including Anglican churches, of course!).

I love that acronym - PROWL - People Reaching Out With Love. I might steal that one day... :)

Hi Kaonashi,

I was raised Anglican and left in my early twenties to join the Salvation Army, and from then on I became Charismatic, then Pentecostal. I then left the church completely for roughly six years and when I went back it was to the Anglican, and I must say I fell in love with it again. I love the liturgy, but what's really impressed me is everyone accepts me for me and there don't seem to be any 'cliques', or groups who keep outsiders at arms length (which I found to be true in Pentecostal circles). So I totally know where you're coming from. It's great to hear you like it so much.

that and the good food. :D It was Presbyterians Reaching Out With Love until Dana, our head honcho realized that only 3 or 4 in the group were actually Presbyterian :D
