Being bandied about the net is the idea that perhaps Hillary will propose statehood for PR in hopes of getting their delegates (guess I didn't know they had delegates:scratch: ).
What are your thoughts on this? Any cool 51-star flag designs lined up?^_^

The Hills is at it again. And two more democratic senators in the US Senate.

I heard an interview the other day on POTUS 08 (XM station) with the mayor (whatever his title is) of PR - PR doesn't want to become a state. The mayor of PR said the delegates would vote for whichever candidate wouldn't push for statehood and would address the issues that apply to PR .

I've heard this too~PR gets benefits of a state but less of the headaches...but I've read somewhere that more folks of Puerto Ricans live in the US than live in PR.
I don't much about PR~the girls are pretty and everything else I learned from Fred Sanford :D

They have had numerous referenda offering them the chance to petition for statehood and have always voted against it.

There has been several attempts by the government of PR to propose statehood and each one has been voted down. It is true that the "territory of the US" status that PR enjoys now is the best of both worlds for them since they get the benefits without the responsibility. Personally, I would like to see PR become a state.

PR is split between state-hood and staying a terroritory, as indicated by their last vote. Only 1% wanted indepedence- so it doesn't do any good to propose it unless the opinions have changed.
They can come in at any time- they just need to demonstrate that is what they want and Congress will approve it.

I would like to see PR become a state.
But the people there are very proud of their identity and won't have it.
Many of their citizens have served well in the US armed Forces.
