So last week I told y'all how my Shul is seriously considering affiliating with the Reform movement.
Well today I got laid off. This is just horrendously bad, because I have next to nothing in savings as I was trying to pay off some depts so I could make Aliyah.
What is going on here? I know I should just move to a more economically prosperous area, one with an frum presence, but that is not possible without something in savings. This is all just almost too much to take...

My suggestion: find a frum area where you would like to live.
Contact Chabad there and explain your situation to them.
They should be able to help find a place to put you up for free
on a temporary basis while you job hunt. They may also be
able to help you locate employment.
If Chabad can't help or is not located there, than I would
contact whichever Orthodox shuls or organizations are
in the area.
Or perhaps is there an area you would like to live in,, that
you have contacts there that can help you out?
HaShem will help you through all this; it will work out for
the best as you will be able to move to the frum area you
desire; and perhaps the new job will be even better than
the last....
Gam zu letovah.....

Yes, he is strong where you are weak, He can be seen moving in this stark circumstance.
Do you have ties in that area? Are you going to school there too? Family? What is holding you there? do not let your dreams fade because of one job lose. This may be a blessing in disguise, just have faith that it is for the best. :)

Praying for you, friend.
And may a believer in Yeshua help you in a tangible way.

My family is keeping me here for the moment. The job hunt looks promising at the moment. Meanwhile, my rent is paid and my pantry is full. Baruch Hashem.

Shul is a Yiddish word, meaning place of learning, such as the Synagogue.
Aliyah means literally 'to go up', and the way Joe was using it, meaning to make residence in the land, of Israel. It can also be used when called up to read the Torah ( you 'go up' to the bema ( a raised platform where the Torah scroll is unrolled and read) to read) so you have to be aware of how it's used in a sentence. :)
Frum, another yiddish word meaning one who would be considered Orthodox, meaning keeping the 613 commandments ( of which can be kept). Basically means devout, or observant, devoted to Torah. :)
