I don't know if they count as fundamentalist or not, but I thought I'd take a guess. If I put this in the wrong area, feel free to move it to a better one. :)
Anyway, I was just wondering what on earth the word Berean means. Is it a denomination? What do they believe?

The Bereans were a group in the NT church who were described as students of the Scripture who studied to see if what Paul said was true.

Acts 17: 10-12

I am no expert but I think the use of the term "Berean" in a church name is simply meant to be descriptive rather than indicate any specific denominational ties.

We planted a church not too long ago with Berea in the name. They're non-denominational.

Basically being cross denominational, if, in the course of their studies, Bereans find the results of those studies are not in agreement with what their denominational affiliation espouses they, then, go with the results of their studies.

This would appear to be the God-approved way to go.

imnsho, The new Revolution Church (search at barna.org for more info) Movement speaks much in this regard.

10 And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming thither went into the synagogue of the Jews.

11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.

12 Therefore many of them believed; also of honourable women which were Greeks, and of men, not a few.

13 But when the Jews of Thessalonica had knowledge that the word of God was preached of Paul at Berea, they came thither also, and stirred up the people.

14 And then immediately the brethren sent away Paul to go as it were to the sea: but Silas and Timotheus abode there still.

Following the example of the Jews of Berea, some christians call themselves "bereans" to indicate that their only reference is the scripture, and that they believe what preachers tell them on the only ground that what they preach is scriptural.

Every good christian should be like the bereans. Not believing anything they're told, but reading through the scriptures to know what's true and what's not.

Sadly, most "Christians" fail finding inclusion in that category. Believing a lie for most is always easier and more convenient.
