Well... if you die from embarrasment, then you will at least have the comfort of knowing you are a Baptized child of God.

:P

LOL!

CONGRATS, Caelum!!! What EXCITING news!!!

Don't worry about being embarrassed. You are gonna do just fine. Now, I do embarrass myself at all Baptisms. I cry at infant Baptisms when the pastor raises the baby up toward the altar and I cry all the way through an adult Baptism. For me an adult Baptism is especially emotional. Tears of utter joy. I LOVE IT!!!

Caelum--God bless you! Let us know how it goes.

Love ya,

Rose

I'd be more worried about water in my ears. Can you imagine going through the rest of the service sticking your finger in your ears trying to get the water out? And then you hve to share the peace with earwax on your fingers! LOL

Q. If you're fully immersed, and you don't get water in your eyes, does the mote remain?

I'm a sponsor in a baptism this Sunday. You bet I won't have a dry eye.

Congratulations, by the way!

How exactly does an Adult Baptism work? I have only witnessed infants at my Church. (I have seen others done at a Mennonite Church, crazy anabaptists.)

Thanks a lot guys, your enthusiasm is supportive :)

JVAC, i'm not sure, I wont be going over it with my Pastor until 4 days before lol, so we'll see...I think that might explain a bit of my nervousness :D

It goes just like the infant baptism, except you don't need your parents to speak for you. I was baptized about age ten. I had water poured on my head.

Instead of being held over the thingy, you stick your head over it.

That is the same way I was baptized only at two months old. I personally like emphusion, it just gives you that added symbolism (though I don't think it necessary). I remember Luther saying that Baptism should be by imersion where possible, but most churches don't do that. I saw this educational video where the babies go swimming in a giant pool. It is pretty funny, but apparently they don't breathe the water in, some sort of valve forces it in the stomach. I just thought that was interesting, I don't know why. Man am I off topic :D.

The thingy is a Baptismal Font. ;)

Swimming "lessons" for babies was all the rage in the late 70's- early 80's. Babies can swim naturally. Maybe because they are surrounded by amniotic fluid or something prior to birth? All you have to do is blow in baby's face before dunking him.
