View Full Version : Hide the Rep # but still be able to recieve reps

There are some of us that dont like to display the rep stars and numbers but to disable means not being able to recieve reps or rep messages. Could we please have a feature that allow us to disable the #'s and still be able to recieve reps.
It would be greatly appreciated and perhaps cut down on the competition of supremecy of the stars, of which only a few are involved

The feature would hide others stars and reputation #'s just as characters, pets, and scrolls can be hidden.

Those that have the feature disabled will see everyone's reps/stars and those that enable the feature will not see others reps/stars.

The little hand to recieve the reps would still allow reps to be given to others

yet others would not know if that person can see their reps/stars or not.

It's an option:

Just as someone who has ,for instance, characters disabled, others are not aware that their characters/pets/scrolls are not seen

I am not in any competition of supremacy of the stars, I wanted to be clear on that.

But, when I came back to CF, I had all 15 stars showing. I didn't know what it meant. It didn't bother me.

But it has come to my attention that some of my special friends are bothered by this.

would agree to get something in there to hide the reps and stars.

To have the choose to show them or not.

Like the health bar and what not.

I hope this helps.

God bless all the Staff that work so hard at CF.
Thanks so much. It is so appreciated by me and many others.

You can hide the reps and if someone really wants to rep you they can switch to PDA mode and rep you that way.

You can hide the reps and if someone really wants to rep you they can switch to PDA mode and rep you that way.I have no idea what that means and since I get at least 20 reps a day when I have them enabled and none when I have them disabled I dont think anyone else does either. Is it a dificult process to add a feature to disable the reps, still allowing people to rep w/o having to change modes? Or put that feature in a recognisable place and explain what it is for?
I dont think Im being unreasonable in this.

Isn't that a lot of trouble?

I agree. We should have a way to hide our rep stars & numbers. We should also have the option to hide everybody's, just like the health bars.
Hiding our rep should not disable the rep function. I can hide my site supporter status & it doesn't disable my site supporter features.

Thats a very good point. Having the option to hide other peoples options is established most everywhere else. It should also be a feature of the reputation numbers and stars. Thank you.

How about an ignore button for the reps :sigh:

I would like this too. It don't bother me personally, but if it bothers my friends then it needs to change.

I am just Glad we have a site to talk on period. I praise God for all My special friends here. How we can fellowship with one another.

I could care a less about the stars as much as the reps. I like the reps to send people little messages.

To encourage and love my sisters and brothers.

God bless all. I hope they can help with this. I think it is a good idea.

I suggested this a long time ago in the suggestions for site supporters forums....never got any feedback there....good luck with this one...I think it's an awesome idea....ppl are judged by the amount of reps they have, or don't have.

FYI I don't think that the PDA Mode for giving reps works anymore.
(At least it didn't work the last time I tried it)

But yea, if they add an option to just Hide Rep Total that still allowed Repping, I can see that working.
But would you want it to hide just the count, count + stars, count + stars + Rep Description (Little Green dots)

That is why I help the little guy.

I try everyday to help 3/4 of the people I rep don't have stars or not many.

I think the stars hidden would be better it would make people feel more comfortable.

Either , just as long as the option is there. My preference would be to leave the green dots.
Hiding the rep numbers and stars was the main point.

Or perhaps change the name of the forum to

reputationforum.com

I don't understand the problem (if any) with hiding the reps as an option. :sigh:

I'm completely ignorant about this issue - can I ask what problems people are having with other people's rep counts?

Also, if this feature is added, could that possibly shine any negative light on those who don't want to disable their rep #?
Would they be viewed as arrogant or flaunting? etc.?
That would be my only concern.
At least if it's showing for everybody, we don't have an arrogance issue starting where people could attack you for having yours showing???

thanks for any input

Your misunderstanding the feature thats being requested.

I understood it wasn't that reason - but that's not for this or any thread most likely.

Either way I have no problem if people want to disable viewing rep stats or another thing they don't care about.

YW, people have varied reasons for not liking different features, mine is that it promotes addiction, and believe me I was addicted to it for awhile where it was influencing my behavior. But when I disabled it no one could rep me and I liked getting the rep messages from my friends.

The choose should be there is what I'm saying.

I understand that totally and if it is affecting someone in a bad way it would be very helpful to turn that off instead of it being in your face as a constant temptation.

thanks again for the explanation.

thanks again for the explanation. It's not as much about the temptation as it is about the fact that to disable it at this point means that a punishment incurs in being restricted from others repping and sending rep messages. That is what is needed in changing the way that it stands now.

Yes you can send rep notes to people that have their rep count showing disabled! :)

If you change the "forum skin" in the control panel to PDA/text, you can send a rep note to anyone on the forum.
If they have the rep count hidden, it still is hidden in that mode but you press rep and they get the rep note.

I have done that several times when someone has there rep count (and thus their rep hand) disabled.

The only way that I'm aware of to rep someone with their reps disabled is on blogs.

Also, this thread is about disabling seeing others reps.

I know what the thread is about. :)
I was only correcting your statement about it not being possible.
I know many people are not aware of it unless they use their PDA to come here.

It still works. I made sure it still did before I posted earlier.

They should be able to add this feature. I don't see why they couldn't do it easily. I know there is a "to do list" this should be put on it also.

Have a blessed weekend Evangelica, God bless!

This feature has been added to the *NEW* Complete List of Requested New Features--- Version 1.0, which is located here: http://christianforums.com/showpost.php?p=44436267&postcount=2

I can not promise that we’ll accept this new feature or that the site could be coded to have this type of feature, but it will be brought up to our coding techies at ChristianForums.com.

This thread may or may not be closed and removed from the New Feature Suggestion forum for the time being, but DO NOT WORRY--- the link for the thread will still work for the coders looking at the new features.

Should you have any questions or concerns about your particular feature suggestion, please feel free to drop me a message any time! Thank you for your suggestion :)
