After the crack down in this forum it looks like it never recovered.
Sad.

There's a few places like this now~baptist and moderate forums don't get much traffic either, guess folks movin' on to other things?

This forum was singled out for especially strict enforcement of rules a while back. I looked for the thread but can't find it.

Dr. Steve - maybe you could help liven things up here again.
After all, look what you've accomplished in the repaholics forum.
Think of a topic - I'll discuss it.

ghost town
Mr.Jim is right about the Baptist sub-forum, it used to be lively forum in its own right.
OBOB has been going a little crazy, everyone seems to be on edge, but we are doing ok, things are getting back to normal
from what I have seen the Pentacostal sub-forum is doing great, also the Charismatic Catholic subforum in OBOB has a good amount of trafic

I tend to be a lightning rod outside the BE. I am not interested in defending myself from spite reports.
Besides, I really enjoy the Repaholics Forum and think it offers more ministry potential under the present CF structure.

I'm probably wrong, but I'll throw my two cents' worth into the mix in the belief that you'd like everyone to speak up.
IMO, the problem is that although the forum has and has had a statement of principles, we couldn't reach agreement on having it govern membership.
As a result, just about anyone who asked to join, feeling themselves "conservative" to some degree, some of the time, in comparison to someone else, on certain issues that interested them if not others, or by their own definition, took up their place here until it became a catch-all forum. Given no cohesiveness on principles, members naturally began to spar, each thinking himself the proper one to be here, until reporting became a habit.
Afterwards, many members found other forums to frequent where they felt it was possible to discuss something or other without inviting a free for all.

It never really was a solid forum~always some kind of turmoil. I think in retrospect doctrinal issues trumped "conservatism".
The forum was a reaction to 777 and thereby was "political" in that sense. I don't see much future other than what is, but since I've moved on out from the baptist forum maybe I'll see what'll come from hanging in here for awhile again:eek:
At least the ladies are around occasionally in the busy threads.
And for everyone else:

The forum would have been calmer had it not been for the raids by non conservatives.
But that's past now.
Just stopping by to give a erulogy for CCC.

Aside from not having a clearly understood
raison d'etre, the lack of issues seemed always to be a problem for us.
We're conservative....so what do we discuss? That we like the Bible? That we aren't fond of abortion? We always seemed to be lacking something that had not already been talked to death before the forum was established.

may well be true - but I'm trying to come up with some threads that are good discussion as well as fellowship

It is quiet, yeah. This is still the part of this place I feel comfiest, though, somehow.
It'll pick up again. The nice thing about CC is, despite its brief, albeit fractious, history, all the people who frequent it are truly lovely, and really love God. The same can't be said for CF as a whole, so CC is still a bit of a haven. Unless things have changed drastically in the last few months...
It's a nice place, CC. Soothing :)

HI GM my friend!Hullo, Steve! :)
Bring me up to date: what's been goin' on? Have you got your red star? And, even more importantly, your green one? And how's the restoring of the Nicene been going?

The red, blue, green star proposal is on the "to do" list behind other major programming needs. So not sure when it will happen.
As to the creed, an announcement was made, a lot of reaction and debate over what promotion means, etc. etc. Where it is I am not sure. I rarely post in this side of CF.
Mostly I have been in the BE area (Repaholics subforum) building a really neat community of folks. Check it out.
You can actually have fun and not get reported! Imagine that

That's just... cruel. Like being teased, or being in Groundhog Day

You can actually have fun and not get reported! Imagine that:hug: Thanks for the invite, dude :) To be honest, though, am not really a member, anymore. Like, have you ever gone back to visit an old school? Where it just feels different, and you don't really feel you belong, anymore? It's sort of like that. And reppies are the most addictive part of this place. Heh, engineered that way, hence the doubling of our repsies.
BTW GM.... you were the one that encouraged me the most toward my first star and I've been able to do that for lots of others.
THANKS:) Yay! You're brandishing some awesome repping powah, so n00bs probably clap their hands with glee when you rep them. Is wonderful :)

Av asked for his reps to be reset. The doubling of the reppies was requested by we Repaholics it was not a CF plot.
As to busy places, I am not around the non BE enough to know, but the Rep forum has boomed. We have some outreach programs to reach newbies.
In any case, it is great to see you.

GM - so glad to see you:hug:
I hope this means you'll be here a tad.
The congregational forums (at least the ones I frequent) are much quieter than they once were - but at the same time there isn't the constant dissension that was there not too long ago.
There are some who want to discuss doctrine and such without the rancor that is so prevalent in other areas of CF (for example in GT). I make a point to visit here (and a few other congregational forums) for at least a few minutes every day - but like RD find myself spending more time in the fellowship (specifically the repaholics) forums. Lots of good fellowship, prayer and such to be found there.

This forum is dead now because not too many care to preach truth anymore and if they do - it wont be long before their posts are removed and or threads are shut down.
Too many are lukewarm now and just prefer a warmer fuzzier christianity. Same reason you see little movement in the baptist areas and more fundamentalist areas. The way is narrow and few will find it.

I have been afraid to post here for a long time.
Being Catholic makes me a prime target for getting reported and singled out be the admin. .
Safer to stick with neutral topics and OBOB.
Albion

I'm sorry but I can't believe any of that about being reported or living in fear of it. While some reports are unwarranted, you don't get whacked for being a Catholic or anything else, so long as you don't make personal attacks or go far beyond making a statement of your opinions. And the principles on which this forum was created are as welcoming of Catholic theology as of Protestant theology.
drstevej

BA, it isn't the issue of being Catholic. It is the issue of being conservative and insistent or conservatives and not wanting liberals and moderates to invade this forum and disrupt.
Now it is a calm place with very few posts. That's fine.
I wish the good folks here well.
