ugh! i've had oprah and schuller's numbers for years.

as for schuller, well i won't go into it. if you've ever watched his telecast, it's clear his teachings don't come from the Bible.

as for oprah, about 20 years ago the topic on one of her talk shows was abortion. a few in the audience spoke about God and the Bible, and finally oprah interrupted one such comment to say something like, yeah, yeah, we've heard what the Bible says. now does anyone else have something to say that's not from the Bible. so i realized how lost she was/is years ago.

but with so many searching for truth in these end times and with oprah being so very influential in our world today, i can see this becoming the new world religion. scary indeed.

sure, for us who've read the Bible we can see plain as day that this is wrong, but 'there is a way that seems right to a man...that in the end leads to death.'

just think of the literally billions who don't know what the Bible says and then imagine this stuff permeating their minds. they'll probably end up teaching these lies in the schools some day. unbelievable how every day more and more signs point to the times we are living in.

thanks for posting this. i'm gonna send it to a few in e-mail.

Not to get off track because you have a very valid point, but I had a very interesting conversation with my dd because the "new" thing in their textbooks is using B.C.E.- Before Common Era in replace of B.C.

hi Cristianna - my great-great grandmother was also named Cristianna! actually in the family history my aunt compiled, there were several in the family with your beautiful name! i'm of German descent.

that's crazy about the B.C. thing. little by little everything we were ever taught is being changed. i guess it's hardly surprising anymore--the world is doing away with Jesus .

my son is 16 and i asked him if he'd heard that yet at school and he hasn't, but he's gonna be more cognizant and see if he notices it. good post :)

Very cool suzee! It's not actually my name- it's obviously one I like though. And how ironic... we have German here too. Actually my oldest brother was almost born there, but they decided to move to the US right before he was due.

I'm almost positive my dd's textbooks are new. Maybe if the school is using older books for those classes/grades it may not be there. I did a google search and was astonished at just how "normal" BCE is presented. I truly would have had no idea what it meant had she not said something to me.

Wow! I never would have taken Oprah seriously as a theologian anyway, but I didn't realize Schuller was so bogus!

I just saw Schuller speak, 2/13/08(he was one of several speakers). I don't usually look to people on tv for advice. I do have 1-2 of his books, but then I have a lot of books of that type. Wish I had more James Dobson stuff. But back to topic, you have to take everything with a grain of sand. Just because someone is a preacher does not mean they are truly or wholly speaking for God.

As for Oprah, I think she tries to do what she sees as good. However an above poster got it right when they posted the quote about a way that seems right to a man leading to death. I don't have a very high opinion of her, but I do think she is misguided more than evil. I think she really needs to experience God and turn to Jesus. However she is addicted to the narcotic of feel good spirituality.

I think there is a place for preaching to make us feel good, but it has to be solidly grounded in the word of God. We are commanded to encourage each other. But we must balance that with the command to speak the truth in love. I guess it can be a fine line. The only way anybody can walk it is through prayer. SO we should pray both for wisdom and for God to guide those who claim to speak in His name.
