For the longest time, I did not want to be labeled what 'type' of Christian I am. I guess this was in an effort to maintain a modicum of peace and unity with other 'types' of Christians on this board. However, deep in my heart I know that I belong here.
I just read flesh99's sticky, and I fully identify with the description of a Fundamentalist Christian.
Thank you for this meeting place.

As a new Christian I thought I was "normal". Then I came to CF and found out I was a "fundie". Thank you, Father, for making me a fundie and allowing me to fellowship with your servants!
Hey, Larry, glad you could make it!

Yes, same here. I thought I was just like every other Christian out there. I was so wrong, but you know. I thank the Lord for making me a fundie as well. If standing up for His truths makes me a fundie, then call me a fundie dangit!!!!!

Larry, I was right there with you. Often I didn't speak on particular issues because I wanted to maintain the 'peace.' I'm ashamed I didn't speak up before on particular issues that I (or should have) held dear to my heart as they are the words of Christ.

Heh, that's pretty much what I thought as well. However, I've been labeled a "fundie" by quite a few here. I'm not sure what that's supposed to mean exactly, but I'm not sorry for the beliefs I uphold. :)

I can't relate. I have never been afraid to say what I believe, although there are times some misunderstand me. Actually, it gets me in trouble sometimes too. I was labled by a staff here as being 'hotheaded'.
But I'm glad you feel welcome here.

Just to clarify -
For me, this was not a case of any fear of speaking what's on my mind. Trust me, I have always been outspoken - this board is no exception. It was more of an attempt to maintain some kind of peace and unity with others.
The concept of 'fear' never entered the picture.

It's nice to have a place where we can feel welcome! I agree with everyone else . . . if sticking up for traditional Christian morality makes me a fundie, then so be it and no looking back here. Welcome, Larry.

Amen for me. Before I came to CF, I never really identified with being a "fundamentalist," a word which has certain negative connotations. I just thought of myself as a plain ol' generic Christian. Now, we're all "fundies!"

Ok, your a "fundie dangit"! (I know, oldest joke in the world :D )
And I, too, am glad to find this "place", and am happy to be a "fundie dangit"!
