View Full Version : Was Jesus God when He was in Mary's womb?

Yes or no are the only two options in the poll.

I would like to respectfully ask that only Baptist/Anabaptists give their opinion, and a yes or no is sufficient. I really don't think it requires an explanation. I will not debate the point. I will not ask questions. I'd just like to the view the results of the poll.

Cordially,

Michelle

Jesus was at all times God - in the womb, as an infant, a boy, a teen and as a Man. Even on the Cross as the willing Sacrifice for the whole world's sins HE WAS GOD THE SON ALMIGHTY !!!

God NEVER ceases to be God - even when He took on flesh ;)

Mary gave birth to God Incarnate - Jesus was 100%man and 100%God, the word made flesh.

But as the Word, he was with God and was God before Mary was ever born.

As one who beleives in the Trinity, I object to the term 'Mother of God' (what I think the poll is really about) because God (Father, Son and Holy Spirit) is One in three personages.

So yes, in the womb, Jesus was God Incarnate.

Yes

Col 2
4 And this I say, lest any man should beguile you with enticing words.
5 For though I be absent in the flesh, yet am I with you in the spirit, joying and beholding your order, and the stedfastness of your faith in Christ.
6 As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him:
7 Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.
8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.
9 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.

That is funny, I thought that you did not want to debate about it and that you just wanted to "view" the results.
HMMMMMMMMMMM.
I smell something fishy.
I didn't vote, because I smelled somethin.

LOL...I agree with you....I used to play that game when I was RC. If it smells fishy...it must Friday during Lent. ;)

I have heard it said that she's not the Mother of God.
If she is the mother of God, then she would be a goddess, and equal to God the Father. Or if she was human, then Christ would have been a demi-god like Hercules. Why? Because that would mean that God the Father mated with Mary, and that's sick XP

So, do you want to debate this in the Christology forum?

Miss Shelby

GELGEL,

The seed asked me a question and I answered him. Did you miss that part?

I am actually surprised that 12 people voted. I didn't think that anyone would.

GELSo did I. I suspected it was just a way of trying to justify giving Mary the title "Mother of God", an inappropriate title because of the Triune nature of God. She gave birth to God Incarnate - the Word made flesh. She is not called "Mother of God" in scripture.

I'd like to thank you all again for your participation. If it is not too much trouble, would you mind taking a few minutes to do this poll, in General Theology. You may pick as many as you feel are accurate in the poll.

I didn't start it by the way, but I thought it was an interesting poll.

If I was addressing YOU in the first place I'd say thank you. Did I touch a nerve dear? You were addressing me.(indirectly) I chose to ignore your comment, since it was snide and uncalled for. Just as this one was.

I thought we were allowed to ask questions in here as long as we did not debate? I held to my end, yet several people have questioned my motives. I am actually PLEASED by the results of this poll.

I wonder if the OBOB moderators would be as tolerant if I asked (without engaging in debate OF COURSE), "Is Jesus Christ physically present in the eucharist?" or "Do you believe in transubstantiation?" Somehow I think they might see that as baiting.

Warmest regards.

You may ask any question that you want in OBOB, as long as you do not debate. You may ask for further elaboration, if you do not understand.

The questions in your quote would be answered with, "YES";)

Doesn't look like baiting to me,
