We have a rant thread and a fellowship/dinner thread, so I was wondering if we could start a prayer chain? :prayer:
If so, I have a request I would like to post.
Last night I learned that a dear childhood friend was in a terrible car accident and may have severe neurological damage. His name is Rick, he is married with a couple of kids (teens) and is a very sweet guy. I've known him most of my life.
thanks,
Celtie

:prayer: for Kristin. May the Great Physician bring about healing in her body, mind, and soul.
Last night's revival service went well. We spoke of how God's dwelt among us...first in a temple, then as Jesus the Christ, and now through the Holy Spirit dwelling in each one of us. Tonight I will continue to work with that and challenge the congregation to greater intentionality in evangelism.

Thanks for the prayers! Tonight's service was a good ending for the week. A couple of folk shared with me that they entered the week of revival services with some skepticism (since I'm not a 'big-name' evangelist from away, but just a pastor of a sister church), but that the services were 'exactly' what they needed. I'm grateful that God was able to give these folks a 'shot in the arm,' and pray that they will find new ways to serve Him.
Grace and Peace,

:priest: Lord, hear the prayers we offer in commemoration of Saint Isidore. May your church united who have sick loved ones learn from his teaching and benefit from his intercession. As Saint Isidore encouraged the teaching of medicine, we ask that you also guide the hands of those doctors and physicians who seek to administer aid to those who are sick and who have been mentioned in this thread.
Grant this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen. :prayer:

Please pray for my wife and I. About two years ago, I had to go through two major surgeries without any insurance. The time since my surgeries has been a "living hell" from the people we owe money to. I owe in excess of $60,000.00 in just medical bills with one hospital wiping their part completely out which was $48,000.00. Total over $100,000.00. We anquished over this for a long time and a couple of months ago we filed for chapter 7 bankruptcy. Our hearing is today at noon. Pray for us!

First an update--the request that started this thread. My friend who was in the accident awoke from his coma, knew where he was and why. He was able to tell his family what caused the accident (he fell asleep) and that he knew he had been partially ejected from the car. He still has a long way to go and I do not know what his physical condition is at this time.
Second- a new request.
My friend Janice has come to my husband and I asking for a loan of $2200. She had loaned the money to her son to get him out of a jam and now needs the money to pay her bills because the son hasn't paid her back like he was supposed to. Loaning her the money would not be a major problem for us, but she does not want her husband to know, afraid that if he knew she had helped out the son (with whom he has a lousy relationship) it would end the marriage. My husband, due to past experience, will not loan her the money behind her husband's back.
I'm not asking what we should do, just asking that you pray for this family. Thanks.

Prayer Chains are the Best!! I have a proposal for all, I'm looking for more people to commit to being a first contact on a prayer chain that is starting to get popular. If you feel called to being a pray warrior we could sure use you!
Basically how it will work is you will get a login to a Certain email account, from there you pray for the request then send them to all your commited friends and family that also want to be pray warriors, the goal is to get the prayers going to as many people as possible, the more the more Powerful the prayer.
If you want to know more please contact me.
If you have a prayer request the site is atticministries.com

I have 2 request to make this rainy morning.
First--My friend Carrie is in the final 2 weeks of her pregnancy and is really uncomfortable. She is stressed partly because her mom is 10 hours away and not here with her. And at the moment she is alone for a few days because her husband (youth pastor at church) is out of town doing a wedding (his first!).
Second-- At 6:30 tomorrow (Friday) morning my friend Heather leaves her husband and 6 kids to fly to South Africa on a 2 week mission trip with 14 other local people. Please pray for their safety and for the success of their trip. They will be helping to renovate an old bank into an AIDS clinic as well as helping with a VBS program.

Please pray for my job search. I am employed at the moment but there are some things in the works that are causing me to seek out other employment. To go into detail here would take up most of the forum! I am also trying to seek direction if I should stay in my field or look into other possibilities. For awhile I have had some type of feeling I should be in missions or some type of ministry position. I am not sure exactly where that will lead, but I am praying that God will open the doors and that I will be bold enough to enter in. My devotion reading this morning was from Joshua..."Be strong and courageous!" Certainly advice I needed to read.
Thanks!

Pray for the Holiness of the church. Our very souls are under attack daily in the later hours. Lift up your heads my brothers and sisters, our redemption draws near.
Pray that we might face the days with bravery, with love, and in fulfillment of our great commission to tell the world of His great love and the freedom of knowing Him.
Pray for those near Mt. St. Helens also, especially my son and his family, as the ash and smoke is sure to be bad for them.

Some of you may remember when I asked for prayers last spring for the teacher at my son's school who lost a baby. Recently I found out she is pregnant again. Today I found out that early this week she went to the hospital due to some spotting/bleeding. They stitched her closed, but she started having contractions. They stopped the contractions with medication and ordered her to bed. Complete bedrest for the rest of her pregnancy--and she isn't due until March! Please pray that she will be good and comply with the doctor's orders. She is a very energetic, always on the go type person, so being stuck in bed will not be easy for her. Pray also that she safely delivers this child. I know she will be a great Mom.

PS--I am not planning to make her another prayer shawl. She has the one I made in the spring. I'd much rather make her a baby blanket!

Tough times don't last... Tough people do!!! My name is Gary Hogan. Some of you receiving this know me, some do not. My wife, Cindy, is 32 years old and has just been diagnosed 3 days ago with stage 4 cervical cancer and her chances for

asking for prayer. The more people that pray for her to be healed,
the better. Pray and forward. It only takes a second to hit
"forward". Please do it and don't delete this; your prayer
can and, perhaps, will save her life. Please pray and ask
everyone you know to pray for the HEALING of Cindy and the removal of all
cancer in her body so she may enjoy all that life has to offer, and
to continue to be the wonderful mother to our 5 year old son,
Michael. The power of Prayer is unsurpassed. I want the whole world to
have her in their prayers the next few weeks. God will hear our
cry. Please do not be offended by my plea. This is only a request
for your help. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading
this and helping with our request for healing. No words can
express the power we have when we each do a little to come together.

Unfortunately, I must urge you to ask your friend at school where they got the email from. The chances are pretty good that the hogans don't exist (http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/adults/hogman.asp). There is more here (http://urbanlegends.about.com/library/bl_gary_hogan.htm), and here (http://www.breakthechain.org/exclusives/hogman.html).
Regardless of this being a hoax, and a disrespectful one at that.. I know how it is, those things are so believable. I still think that we should still pray for all people who may be in a similiar situation. We should pray that those with cancer find strength and that their suffering is eased.

My husaband is making plans to fly to Idaho over Thanksgiving to spend some time with his Dad. Whether the kids and I go will depend, in part, on what Dad's condition is. We will also need to be ready to travel to PA when he passes for the funeral. (His first wife is buried near Harrisburg).

I have a serious request myself. My 16 year old son has become more and more depressed and has now spoke of suicide. We have him going to a psychologist twice a month and another mental health doctor as well. They have placed him on medication that seems to have improved his moods. But I am terrified to leave him alone now lest I come home and find he's followed through on the suicidal thoughts. We had a wonderful talk two nights last week where alot of good new ground was broken between he and I but his relationship with his father is about the worst I've ever seen it. The boys have been raised in the church....my husband works in the restaurant industry so now our son has informed us that the reason he's so depressed is that "daddy didn't spend any time with me when I was younger". I am trying to be understanding but this news has devastated my husband.
So please keep all of us in your prayers. Pray specifically for the bond between my son and his dad to be restored. Slowly, quickly, I'm not picky. I have faith that God has a plan for my son.
Thanks for all your appeal to God on our behalf.

We are praying for you. I have three teen-age children. A couple of years ago my (then) 15 year old daughter said similar hurtful things. We went to a family counselor, and things gradually turned around. We both enjoy our time together. I'm glad you treat the situation seriously, and I hope and pray that it turns around for you.

My prayers are with you. I don't know if this helps any but your sons story sounds very familiar. I attempted to commit suicide 7 times when I was his age. I was very depressed and was also put on medication. I went through hospitialization several times and never did have a decent relationship with my abusive father or my battered mother. I didn't step foot in a church for 20 years and when I did I was trying to get something for free. This story has a happy ending though. I now attend church twice a week, am part of a bible study program, volunteer my time helping out with the church programs for young children and I just help out where I can. To top it off this next sunday I am giving my first sermon.
Sometimes it helps to just remember that someone else has been where you are now and things turned out well. If nothing else Christ himself went through a whole ordeal of tribulation on his way to the cross, he succeded in doing his part to give you a reason and the strength to carry on. Thank you so much for the encouraging words....they are deeply appreciated.
I just received a call from my older brother and my 80 year old father is in intensive care at the hospital in my hometown. He had a pancreatitis attack last night. The doctor is not hopeful for his recovery. Please pray that God's will is done. My dad is one of the best Christians I know so whether he continues to live on here or goes to be with his heavenly Father is not up to us.

Hello all,
I got an email from my sister-in-law today. The pastor of the Nazarene church my family and I attended when we lived in SC was told by his doctor yesterday that he has pancreatic cancer. There is only a 5% survival rate so please pray with me as we trust God for the other 95%!! Pastor Scott is a wonderful man....only about 47 or 48 years of age and has a wife and two beautiful daughters.
Thanks for your prayers for him, his family and the church.

My sister, Lynette, received the results from her breast biopsy on June 16th. The results indicated she has Invasive Ductal Carcinoma, which is malignant breast cancer. Results showed cancer in one breast, but she is choosing to have surgery on both. She attendes College Church of the Nazarene, in Olathe, KS. I've mentioned her here, in other threads.
Her surgery date has been set for this Friday, the 24th.
Lymph testing will begin at 8:30 a.m. Then the surgery will be underway by 10:00 a.m. Her surgery will consist of Breast tissue removal of both breasts.
While one doctor is performing this procedure, another will be using abdominal muscles to reconstruct her breasts. Reconstruction time should take about 5 hours. Fortunately, she is in a state that requires insurance to pay for reconstruction, with this process, which not all states do.
I'm currently reading Lessons From The School Of Suffering, by Rev. Jim Willig who talks about his walk with Christ, through Cancer.
Please pray for both her surgery and possible healing prior to surgery.
Thank you,
Scott

Please pray for my husband as he has suffered his third layoff. The last job brought us to Colorado, a thousand miles from family. We had to file bankruptcy before we moved, and 6 months ago were able to buy a home. Now, if he doesn't get a job soon, we'll have to try to sell this house or walk away from it and lose everything. Please pray that he finds a job he'll love and that will support our family. My health is poor and I can no longer teach because of the stress it puts on my body. Our medicine bill alone is $1100 for three months WITH insurance, which will end soon. I shudder to think what it is without insurance. Please pray for us.

Thank you that you have given Jam the wisdom to turn to You in this time of need. She may feel that there's no one else to help... show her differently, but help her to know that it's You who is always with her in every situation.

I finished the prayer shawl and gave it to Donna on Sunday. She loved it and loved the meaning behind it and was surprised I made it in her birthstone color! Actually, I'd picked the color violet because it is suppose to signify memories and comfort to those who mourn.

Two requests from me today.
First--my nephew Fred and his Marine unit left for Iraq on Friday. They plan to reach their base by the end of this week.
Second-- my brother in-law called last week to let us know he and his wife are expecting their second child--almost 16 years after the first one. Due to some soap opera like aspects of this relationship I'm not really sure how excited to be over this news.

This seems like such a trivial request compared to the others there, but my 18 year old dog needs me to have him put to sleep as of three weeks ago, but I don't have the money. His back is very bad now, and so he staggers around, falling over and getting himself into trouble. I just found him wedged underneath my dresser, and since my youngest dog, who I depend on to alert me to his weirder predicaments was asleep at the time, he was there long enough to whine, which he almost never does.

Thank you for praying!
Well, he only charges fifty dollars, and thirty-five of that is for coming to my home, so his prices are already very low.
As it turned out, I had the money after all, and my home help aid was able and willing to make a special trip get it for me from the bank.
However, the Old Guy passed away quietly a couple of hours before the vet was due, having made the transition from sleep to coma hours before. He was quite the trouper, but insofar as I could perceive, he didn't suffer any pain by his standards, at least.
Please pray for my neighbor. He almost set himself on fire from a kitchen griddle he filled with oil. :([/B]
I will pray! Perhaps they'd consider hiring him a companion?
I know what it's like to need help to continue living at home, and MO Senior Services provides me with most of the help I need by funding the home care provider of my choice, Oxford Health Care.

That's a fine idea, charvel! The help I get from various social services allows me to live independently, rather than go into a nursing home, and such help is likely to be available to him, too, whereas his family may be unable to have him placed in a nursing home, supposing that's the best thing for him, and that can be a hard call to make until other nonflammable alternatives have been fully explored.

Sometimes state nursing homes are good places, you know...and you couldn't let him suffer a terrible home accident.
Not long ago, I suffered a relatively small one myself and I needed all the help I could get...I still do, as a matter of fact.

Need prayers for peace and comfort. After 7 years of homeschooling, hubby and I have decided to place our kids in public school. The schools around us are excellent and we know many of the teachers, so I feel comfortable with this decision. This was a difficult decision to make, but we feel that God is leading us in this direction.
The kids have a solid foundation in Christ, but we all know what affects other kids can have through peer pressure. My prayer is that my kids cling to the cross when their friends (new and/or old) try to pressure them into something they know is not right, and that they are a strong witness for Christ.
I feel my request is selfish. I've had my babies (not babies anymore) around me all their lives, and I am going to be totally lost during the day without them around.

Please pray for my cousin's husband. He recently was diagnosed with a form of lymphoma and they think it has gone to his bones. I lost my father about 4 years ago to cancer so I know how difficult it is to watch a loved one battle the horrible disease. Please pray that he will have strength and his wife and children will as well.

Steve's death appears to have been accidental. We think he took a nap in his truck during his lunch break and left the engine and AC running. The coroners report is still pending.

I think we should all offer prayers up for this man's family. The story found here: http://www.umc.org/site/c.gjJTJbMUIuE/b.2012727/k.EF23/UMNS_Weekly_Digest__August_11_2006.htm#Gunmen_kill_United_Methodist_local_pastor_in_Philippines
NEW YORK (UMNS) — A United Methodist in the Philippines who had served as a local pastor was shot dead by gunmen outside his home. According to the Philippine Daily Inquirer, Isaias Sta. Rosa was found dead near a creek in Malabago, Daraga, Albay, on Aug. 3. Sta. Rosa, in his mid-40s, was a freelance writer and project consultant for nongovernmental organizations and a member of Legazpi City United Methodist Church. United Methodist Bishop Leo A. Soriano, who leads the church’s Davao Area, condemned the killing and urged civil and military authorities to bring the guilty parties to justice. The National Council of Churches in the Philippines issued a statement Aug. 7, noting that Sta. Rosa was the 21st church worker killed since May 2001. Top executives with the United Methodist Board of Global Ministries and the Board of Church and Society also issued statements deploring the killings.

Our home is feeling a bit empty this morning. My daughter's beagle Daisy slipped out of the yard on Sat. and was hit by a car tearing up the road. She was still alive when we reached her, but died moments later in my daughter's arms. We are all saddened by this event, but my daughter is having the most dificulty with it. She is only 14 and this is the first pet she ever had that was hers, they grew up together over the past 9 years and now the little one is gone. Please pray for Ellie, she needs some extra help to get thru this time of mourning for her dog.

I need a prayer. For the past two weeks, I've been having a lot of problems with my car. The first time my left blinker wasn't working. For some odd reason, it worked on my way to the shop, but I went anyways. I knew someone was pushing me to go and I'm glad I listened because I had a burnt bulb and a loose connection.
This week, I had to carry my car back to the shop because it would not start. I wanted to go run some errands, but when I turned the key, my car just clicked. I called for a towt truck and went back to the shop. They couldn't look at it that day, but they called today and told me that my battery was leaking all over some cables.
There are some things to be thankful for here. One is that I wasn't driving my car and it stalled in the middle of a busy intersection. The second is that the loose connection and leak did not start a fire. The third is that these have turned out to be minor problems and minor financial strains.
Please pray for me and my car during this time.

Thanks.
Celtie

< Jesus is the Rose of Sharon....37 years age I named my daughter Sharon Rose, after Jesus...tonight she nearly killed her self...She took all my medications, heart pills, steroids, pain pills, water pills, muscle relaxers, blood pressue pills, in front of me...They barely got her to the hospital...
The night befor Christmas eve we were entertaining some family (children) when my son came in with a chip on his sholder. He argued awhile and Sharon got up and went into her bed room. He followed her and hit her three times in the face. Bruised her badly. She callexd the police. Her face was so bad she lost two days from work and had to go to the Dr.
Today she put a PFA on him to keep him out of our house. He got mad and told her "why don't you do everyone a favor and kill your self. She was crying and went out with her boyfriend. He bought her alchole. She came home drunk and took the pills.
I am so distrought..and need your prayers for a great healing in my family..

An up-date on our situation...
Sharon is still in the hospital. She is safe...I talked to her today and this is what she told me.
She said when she got to the ER she found her self in a deep black hole... no light, and no peace. But she was awake and could here the drs talking around here. They were talking about inabating her..and one said.."She is gone. Her heart has stoped" But she wasn't. she said she kept yelling at the them that she was awake. and they couldn't hear her.
Then suddenly she was yanked upward and sat up. awake and talking.
The drs said they did nothing to cause the heart to start. She believes God yanked her back from the brink of hell.
She is getting better everyday and I thank God for His great love...and I thank you for your prayers.
love Joyce

Ok...ok.. another Nazarene Church to pray for...My church... Kansas City First Church of the Nazarene.
We have been losing people and the church board decided last week to go from three different services (liturgical, traditional and contemporary) to one combined service...
The board prayed and fasted for months about this...and they truly believe it its what God would have us do....I back them but, unfortunatly the church is very upset (the liturgical peeps in particular)...
please pray for this matter as it has been very hard on the Pastor and the staff.
Thanks and God Bless

Hi all! Urgent prayers needed! My husband's grandmother (Carol) is in the hospital, with a large portion of her large intestines seriously infected. At this point, they can't find a surgeon willing to operate.
Thank you for your prayers!

Thank you for the prayers! Praise God, they found a surgeon, and even though he said there was a 30-50% chance she wouldn't make it through the surgery, she made it just fine! They had to remove 4 feet of her intestines!
Thank you, Lord!!

This is going to be completely selfish, but I am asking anyway...
If you read this, could you pray for my concentration and what not for my last final tomorrow...
and also, tomorrow I am going home for the summer, and I am scared...
and...wow..sorry...I am just going through some stuff right now...
So if y'all could send up some quick prayers, I would be so thankful!
