Here (http://anglicancommunion-independent.org/DirectoryCountry.asp)
so that means they really are legit?

Sorry, I am not responsible for what you want to hear. The AIC seems to be a legitimate branch of the Anglican Church which is not in communion with Canterbury.

The AIC goes back about 10 years in the USA and originated from a split in another Continuing Anglican church. The orders of its presiding bishop were accepted as ligit by anyone who accepted the other Continuing bishops' Apostolic Succession as legit. When Bishop Compton-Caputo died, Bishop Dunton in the UK was elected Metropolitan. A worldwide community of churches gradually formed.

Last year, however, the cleric who maintained the AIC webpage in the UK, along with several others, ceased to be part of the church, and the website went with them. As a result, there are now several different associations claiming some version of the AIC name and several competing websites. Bishop Palumbo in the USA claims the original AIC mantle but doesn't appear from his own website to have any parishes other than his own, and Bishop Robles in Chile claims to have succeeded Bishop Dunton as Metropolitan. At least one spin-off website maintains that it is the true internet voice of the AIC and that Bishop Dunton still is its head.

I know nothing of any Australian branch, but there have been clergy leaving for other churches while some of these internet sites seem to be listing large numbers of clergy around the world who had not appeared on any AIC directory until very recently.

I know of the Aussie group. Not a bad Bishop, actually. But, it's best not to gossip. If you want to get the truth on them write to them.

Typical Bishop, if you ask me. :D

I've never met a bishop I liked enough to have dinner with...or a cuppa...or a conversation, come to think of it.....(well, possibly one, maybe two) but what did you or your mates do to the guy to get that kind of reaction from him? LOL

Isn't he ex-Army? That would explain the ego. :D

Wasn't the question, "Is he legit?"
Or is there something we're missing here?

^_^ Oh, they need one of those little smiley icons showing the user spluttering tea all over the keyboard! It IS so much the trend.

Though it has to be admitted that Ted Scott set a nice precedent in Canada, and we're lucky to have a few walking in his footsteps. And we also have to admit that we set our Bishops up to be jerks. I remember the sense of cognitive disjunction the first time I met Bishop Stefan Kristiansen of the ELCIC synod -- he was carrying boxes of worship booklets into the Augustana College chapel!!! Purple shirt and all, queuing up with students and delegates to help unload a dusty truck!

At an Anglican conference, the ACW ladies would have intercepted him with a gracious "come over here, Bishop; let us get you a nice cup of tea; sit here, Bishop; would you like a cookie?" No-one withstands the will of the ACW: it's no wonder our Bishops come across as drones.

Isn't he ex-Army? That would explain the ego. :DOnly officers. We, the ranks, emerge into civilian life the soul of self-disciplined humility:P .

Man, that's too bad. I've met some really exceptional people who happen to be bishops. Including one who was the bishop assigned to the armed forces at one time. :)

I mean...

You asked if he's legit, but then seemed to lose interest in the answer to that as you moved on to identify a lot of personality shortcomings that don't endear him to you (ego, swears, bears grudges, etc).

Also in some cases known as "WA" for "Women's Auxiliary". Which of course begs the question, auxiliary to what, and why not part of the core.

The answer apparently being "auxiliary to the legitimate governance structure", and "not core, because then we would be subject to the legitimate governance structure"

That explains a lot.

" but what did you or your mates do to the guy to get that kind of reaction from him?" huh??

Well, my source says he is a great guy, straight talking and very sincere about his faith and has time for anyone. So, maybe your guys must've done somehting to get on his bad side, or my guy something to get on his good side. LOL :D

I've not met him, so I don't know. I do know this: he does have a growing ministry.

The reason I ask is because you made some pretty serious accusations and responded negatively when someone had told you they had received a good report.

It seems you are fairly familiar with the organization and the individual so one would question why you would question their legitimacy.

Good for you for not commenting further. No sense stirring up conflict on purpose. I applaud your restraint.
