From what has been written in several threads here, I understood that LCMS is not really that staunchly conservative and confessional anymore as Walther's and Pieper's writings are, right? I wonder what LCMS's sister church in England, the ELCE is like? Are they conservative as regards theology or liberal? Do they have similar fights going on within their church body? I still have not had the opportunity to visit any of their congregations. I attended services at SELK, LCMS's sister church in Germany and that particular congegration I visited did not seem to embrace liberal theology at all.

I think you'll find the ELCE to be rather confessional and traditional, probably moreso than most LCMS congregations in the states. I know a few folks who have had experiences with the ELCE, including some seminary classmates who had attended the Westfield House seminary.

Porterross has been there. She could give you a personal observation.

The ELCE is impressively Confessional and I was humbled by how well catechised those I encountered were. I had no idea what to expect, but it was far more orthodox than I could have imagined and the services were packed.

You can e-mail the sem. office at Cambridge for additional info. or listen to the latest sermon. I sure hope they have the LSB by now because hearing the LW chanted just isn't the same.

Depends on what Divine Service setting they used.

I am not fond of the LW much and they were working toward getting the LSB, so hopefully they've done so by now.

This is actually the site I was hoping to find for Till. It is the info. site for Westfield House and it might help answer some of your questions on current goings on with the ELCE.

Two of the liturgies from LW are in the LSB.

I can assure you that I've not had to endure them since the LSB was released. ;)
