Is this disturbing to anyone else?

I've noticed that people are taking extremely hurtful cheap shots in their signatures, and to be blunt it's Catholic vs Protestant junk, or Protestant vs Catholic junk.

I find them quite hurtful, it's a constant source of animosity between me and my bretheren.

But for anything to change we would have to clean our own house first. I will be the first...I would like the Calvinist here to consider being above such immaturity.

Thanks guys and gals...

*this is purely my view, if you do not share it, that is fine*

I'm with you on this.

There are some who seem to take great pleasure in twisting any topic into an attack on Calvinism.....

Sad.

I'm not a big fan of cheap shots either (though I admit, I do indulge in them sometimes ;))

Please report them , it is against the rules of CF no matter where the "cheap shots" are or who does them

I still cannot get over the vast number of pot-shots at Calvinism that seems to be infecting the forums lately.

Pardon me if this seems to be a rant but if I were to take similar shots at Catholicism I'd probably have my posts deleted...... (I have no desire to do so but this serves as an illustration.)

I feel you. And I use to fight it tooth and nail. All it did for me was raise my blood pressure. It's a tough doctrine to swallow and we certainly aren't going to force feed it to anyone.

What's funny to me is that the most common thing I hear is, "A loving God wouldn't operate that way." or something to that effect. Why they believe God had to give up His sovereign state to be loving is beyond me. I mean let's face it, if God truely wanted every single person to be saved and I were able to thwart His will by my own decision or lack thereof, doesn't that make Him bound by my will?

It's tough for people to admit that they are powerless without Him. The flesh desires the credit for all good and none of the bad. Feeling confused by our argument, they lob grenades whenever possible. Don't sweat it, bro. If everyone likes you, you're doing something wrong.

However, if you see something that breaks the rules, report it.

It's not about the debates Gabe. I tend to not involve myself in them. I need to watch my BP too...;)

It's about some posters who seem to make it their mission to sneak a shot at Calvinism into each and every discussion regardless of the relevance. Pardon my frustration but this has been particulary active the last month or so.....

Oh, I know what you mean. I have seen this too. There is even the occasional thread started just to have an excuse to talk trash. I just don't let it bother me anymore. All we can do is relay information. We can't change their hearts.

I know..... I just get tired of seeing RT attacked every time I turn around. There seems to be few other things that will provoke such actions in some people.

Again, sorry about the rant.

We are told to expect persecution when we speak the Gospel truth. I just let it run off my sholders and try to answer in a spirit of His love.

That being said, I really get ticked at the way provocateurs from other Christian belief systems are allowed to run rampant in the Protestant boards, asking the same questions over and over, just to engage in useless debate and sow confusion.

Which is really ironic because everyone on the Catholic board is saying the same thing....

Of Course! And it makes the evil one laugh when we end up feeling ticked.

I think that you should just pray for them and their ignorance. We should be able to get along no matter what denomination. I don't believe that it was God's plan for us to make cheap shots at each other's faith. But those are just my thoughts;)
