I thought it would be a good idea to notify users when ever a post of theirs gets quoted, or someone responds to it. I know personally, it's a big pain to go find or look up my posts to see if anyone quoted them or said anything about them. By the way, I don't mean threads, I mean individual posts on threads.

Coding on this would seem almost impossible and people would get A LOT of PMs that they probably wouldn't like. If they are interested in a topic any longer, they would still get PMs.

I can have this put on the suggestion list but I think it's going to be more of a pain than something that alot of us would like to have. I know we could probably have the feature to turn it off and on, like we do with ChrisBot's automatic bank notes telling us we got our interest, but we'd have to see.

Any new updates to the site sometimes means that old coding hacks won't work anymore--- I'll check to see what is possible.

The only use I see for that feature would be when quoting someone in a different thread or in the same thread long after the quoted has ceased participating, but both are rare occurrences. In addition, it would only work with automatic quoting as it would otherwise probably be too difficult to implement. I never use the auto-quote feature. Can one automatically quote someone in a different thread ?

A more general feature that may be useful is that someone is notified when their nickname is used in a post. The desirability of such a feature is debatable, but I wouldn't mind knowing when I am being gossiped about is secret threads.

If this feature was put into practice without the ability to turn it on and off, I would be getting 100+ PMs most days, telling me what I could see right in front of my face. I understand that this could be useful to some people, but please don't put this into practice without an on/off option.
