Get to know the WP Staff

Hello everyone! :wave:

I've heard this rumor that the WP members are all a bunch of rabbler-rousers, always looking for ways to cause trouble. Well, this thread is here for you to get to know the new sheriffs in town.

First of all, there is me, Jason. If you couldn't tell by the opening paragraph, I do like to joke around every now and then. If you catch me being a bit of a goof, don't pay it no mind, or join in. Either way is fine by me. :D

Our other two staff members are BenAdam and redheadedstepchild. They are both wonderful people as well, and I'm hoping you will all treat us right. ;)

Due to recent changes in staff structure, Sophia has moved on to other areas, and I'm not sure if ContraMundum will be reassigned back here or not. So for now, you guys are stuck with the three of us. I hope you can handle us. Or, rather, should we be hoping we can handle you? :D

This thread is a place where you can get to know us, and we can get to know you. If you guys ever have any questions, let me know. You can either post them here or send me a PM. My "door" is always open. :wave:

How does one go about moderating within a forum that is outside of their own faith? Do you just keep an eye out for anyone being mean and things of that nature? :confused:

I only ask because I have seen in other forums where moderators have to step in when people discuss theology contradictory to that particular branch of Christianity.

I doubt it would be too much of a problem here specifically. I just wondered how that would work. (And I don't dare ask that in some of the other forums that I have been to)

Everyone here seems to behave very well and treats each other with tons of love and kindness. :kiss:

Well firstly are we not all Christians? I tend to be very sympathetic toward Methodists although I am non-denominational.

Yes, we do look out for rules violations, but we also act on reports made by individual members.

I don't think you will need to worry too much about any of us contradicting WP doctrine as it is not our mandated to discuss doctrine in forums we moderate.

If you want to see JAS and I debating come over to the SF/PC forum... :D

Fair question. The simple fact is we moderate by the rules. As was stated, we are all Christians. For my part, I am for unity within the Body of Believers, and I do the best I can to treat everyone fairly. It doesn't matter if I attend a different church, just that I will be fair, and I give you that promise, to the best of my ability to be fair and impartial.

Then again, though, I really don't see any problems coming about. This forum does tend to be pretty quiet, and its members do seem to be very friendly. It is refreshing to me. :)

Of course most of my questions these days will be comparing Methodism to Catholicism.

The day is quickly coming where I have to pick a side. My RCIA class is coming to an end in a few weeks.

I can't help but feel like I am somehow required to be Catholic but secretly want to be Methodist.

I hope you are right. I've been attending the Catholic Church. (Hubby is Catholic). But i have been seriously eyeballing the Methodist Church down the street. I've been to scared to actually go. There was one day I was going to go, but then I ended up running late (I have a toddler) and I didn't want to go in as a visitor and be late on top of it, so we went to McDonald's and had a fun mommy and son breakfast. So it wasn't a total loss. LOL.

But this week my hubby suggested that we go to Mass at different times. They don't have a toddler room and he gets a bit disruptive. My hubby doesn't like that. He thinks it disturbs others too.

Sooo this could be my opportunity to say that I am going to try out something different, since we are going at different times anyways.

I don't know if I mentioned this already (life has been so chaotic, I can't remember). My wife is needing to have her appendix removed. The surgeon couldn't see her until the 21st, which is a long wait. Her primary doctor is trying to find a way to get it moved up. The doctor is concerned about the appendix bursting, because if it does, due to her previous abdominal surgeries, a burst appendix is extremely dangerous, and possibly fatal.
