God CAN heal anything, but chouses not to heal all things. If you have ependacidus (sorry about the spelling), God may heal you, but a surgen WILL save your life.

I know God can and does use both. He can heal us miraculously and sometimes does and somtiemse asks us to trust Him and not rely on doctors.....but He also gives people the wisdom and skill to be come doctors and I know he uses that avenue to heal Hs people all the time

Doctors and medicine are a part of life but God gave us the sacrament of Extreme Unction (anointing of the sick) for a reason too. ;)

This reminds me of a story. Most of You probably know it. There is a giant flood in a village and a priest has to sit on the roof of his church not to drown. He prays to God for help, for some divine intervention. Rescuers arrive, but he tells them that he doesn't need their help for God will save him...
Eventually he drowns and when he asked God why this happened, God says that he tried to help him but he just didn't accept the help...

So IMO do you best not to be sick, if you are sick go to the doctor. Ofcourse it can't hurt to pray.
But only praying is not enough.

No matter how you look at it, Doctors and medicines are ordained by the LORD in the first place. They might not admit it, but they are!

If we have faith - the faith of a mustard seed, powerful enough to move mountains... do we need doctors and medicine?

I think rather the question is do we have faith of a mustard seed to not require doctors?

This is not meant to belittle anyone, because I suffer from several illnesses of which I take medicine prescribed by my doctor for.

Could I avoid the doctor if I had greater faith? Perhaps. However, sometimes God uses afflication in our lives to refine us like silver and gold. He removes the dross from our souls and leaves a person who is actually more dependant on God and stronger in faith.

I believe God has given knowledge and wisdom to doctors and other health care professionals for our benefit. I believe it is prudent for us to use them. However, I would never replace God with a doctor. God has a higher value to me than anything else.

Having had a certain illness for some 17 years now, I am confident that God has chosen to refine me. I have been through some hard times, almost unto death. There were times when I wanted to give up, however, in the end, what has happened is that my faith has been increased in God. Praise be to our heavenly Father that He can work through any circumstance to bless His children! :amen:

I believe that ONLY GOD can heal but that He sometimes works through men.

It is like the fact that God could bring a person to His Son Jesus with a word but choses to use men to lead them.

They are a part of life... just as the Word says to draw near to GOd and He will draw near to us, this tells me that we need to take the first step into doing somethings for ourselves, we look after ourselves and God will make sure that we receive what we need...

God uses doctors to work His will for healing just as He uses Christians to work His will for spreading the good news of salvation through Jesus Christ.

It isn't that He can't do it Himself but rather He uses people to be His body here on Earth.

Doctors and medicine are indeed a part of life. I do not believe that it is always God's will to heal ... either at all or right away. Doctors, medicine, and prayer are a powerful combination. I have suffered all of my life with multiple illnesses, and God's power has been revealed to me many times. I trust Him to help me make the right decision in any particular situation. :)

To not trust in modern medicine or in the advice of doctors is to not trust God's provision for your physical health.

I took the only trust in God option. Not that I do so,but I really do believe that with faith, healing can and does occour. If my faith were sufficient in God,my faith in medicine would evaporate. So, I pray for faith. In God.Not a bad idea in view of the current health care situation.

I put down not sure because I probably wouldn't be alive today if it wasn't for a life-saving surgery when I was a baby. But then I believe in using alternative medicine BEFORE traditonal medicine. I'm not sure what to think. I gotta reasearch on this topic a bit more. I mean, if I get some disease/illness/cancer sometimes in the future, I'll probably just leave it in God's hands

Through experience, I have discovered that sometimes you need modern medicine to give you the capacity to have faith... if that makes any sense. I trust God to heal the deepest wounds. To live, though, I need some medicine to heal the little ones so I can go on with life. Medicine is unfortunately a big part of my life. Without my medication I would be a wreck, if even alive. But God has given me this medicine to silence the noises so that I may grow closer to Him. One day, though, I hope that God will heal me fully, and I will no longer need the help of any kind of medicines.

I fully believe that god will heal you I also believe that doctors are one of his methods. You know the story of the man trapped on the roof in the flood? And he prayed for god to save him, and a helicopter came the man said no god will save me, and then a boat came, the man said no god will save me, and someone threw a rope the man said god will save me and he drowned. When he got to god he asked why didnt you save me? And god said I sent you rope a helicopter and a boat. Well I think medicine is the same thing.

We must have faith in God and on the things he gave us... a mind that discovers ways to cure deseases... people who devoted their life in studying these... people who were trained to practice what those people learned... doctors and medicines and technology.

Basically this is not a question of faith... it's a matter of common sense.

If you had to go to court would you use an attorney?
If your car breaks down will you use a mechanic?
How about a Fireman or Police Officer?

God will provide for my needs--but that does not mean he will use "Divine intervention" every time I have a fever.

How about a dentist?

I mean If you believe in miracle only healing why not try miracle only cooking?

With all thy getting--get understanding. Each of us specializes in some form of understanding. The same God that gave me a brain did not intend for me to fore-go its use.

If you need a doctor call a doctor, if you need a plummber call one....

I believe that you need both. Pray that God will help the doctors, give them knowledge and do their job the right way. But i know that miracles do happen! Just because you go to a doctor doesnt make your faith weak.

Doctors and medicine are definitely part of life, and useful! However, I think they are also part of god; that we are all part of god. Faith in god to heal means using god in and around us (and in doctors who have studied medicine, a branch of god, if you will) to heal. Using, and working with god, as it were.

Faith is an important part of healing. The person who believes they will be healed, or that life will give them wonderful things, is way more likely to be healed than someone who doesn't believe they will get better, or that their life will be filled with wonderful things. It's been proven, scientifically!

So while I do not discount doctors and medicine, I think we could do well to focus on faith, or mental, spiritual and emotional resources, to heal and help us achieve the things we desire, with our time on earth. A lot of people forget that faith in god also means faith in themselves.

God uses many methods to heal us. Sometimes it's by faith, others through traditional medicine or even nontraditional. And sometimes people simply aren't healed. It's a very complex topic. In the end, I think we really just have to look at God's response to job on the matter. God can do whatever he wants to do in our lives and it's our responsibility to simply have faith and trust Him (and listen to the Holy Spirit).

God more often uses mundane methods to perform His work than blatantly obvious instant-fix miracles.
The process of healing can give wisdom, insight and ability to support others.

Dr.s are apart of life.. I believe God uses Dr.'s to help us aid in healing or better our life.. I also believe that God can and does heal all disesas and ailments but often he chooses to let people live with certain things.. Like the Apostle Paul.. Paul asked God to remove what was bothering him (thorn in his side) God wouldnt.. I think that is true today..

God placed the right surgeon to help heal me....
modern medicine is critical to healing. There is a reason why
it is there. Just because we are believers, doesnt mean that
doctors cannot be used. it means that God placed those doctors
to care for us. the surgeon thought i would die- and i almost did.
he ran up and down the halls crying "shes alive!" looking for my parents!
