There is a VERY different atmosphere to this forum than there was a year or two ago.... VERY.

And I like it, a LOT.

:)

CJ, what makes it so nice now...besides our former Lutheran friend visiting us? :)

I have to say I agree with CJ. The forum is much more pleasant and interesting than it was this time a year ago.

You and I are the early morning ones...although you are really early...since you are in central time.

I know that I specifically was one of the reasons that TCCL (as it was back then) was not a very nice place. I enjoyed scapping with the young 'uns and telling everyone else how wrong they were and how right I was. It was really a very ego driven thing for me and decidedly unChristian behavior.

mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa

But don't misunderstand. My presence here is no reflection of any dissatisfaction with where I am today. I just wish y'all would join me! :D

BTW----you've been gone for more than a year. Almost two. :)

Yea I agree, things are better, and thankfully we still get visitors, especially our old pals Dan and Rose

I miss some of debates we used to have too, but I don't miss the name calling fights we all used to be a part of. ^_^

I know I was a major contributor to the chaos. No excuse for my past behavior, but it is easier to best choose when to back off when I'm not on mood-alternating hormone drugs to get pregnant anymore.

Definitely better than it was. Still firm in our convictions, but less vitriolic about it.

Now if only I could convince my husband to visit again. He felt driven out, and has no interest in returning. *sighs*

I wasn't around 'back then', but I want to say that I really enjoy this forum, and am so glad I ran across it. I am happy to be able to express my opinions without being attacked or laughed at for my beliefs. Even though we don't all agree on everything, for the most part it is an amicable disagreement.

The reason I know that me leaving was one cause for this forum to mellow out is because I used to actually enjoy the battles. I would escalate them just to keep it interesting. But I also kinda felt it was my duty to crush what I saw as heresies that adopted the name "Lutheran". So when it came to certain posters and certain topics, I had absolutely no mercy. I am still one of the rowdiest people in TAW, but with their patience and God's grace, I am now just beginning to learn how to speak the truth in love.

With that being said, I owe several apologies to all here, primarily to Willy, UberLutheran, CaliforniaJosiah, Edial, and AngelusSax, just to name a few. Synger, I hope I was not the one, or among those who drove your husband away. What was his username?

To everyone I have offended, both intentionally and unintentionally, I offer you my deepest and most heartfelt apologies.

Oh no- it wasn't MY husband you drove away- that was someone else who said that. Not knowing exactly what you said in the past, I can't say for sure, but you most likely would have never said anything to offend me, as I am about as conservative as they come.

It's okay, but I didn't intend this thread to mull over former days or to lead to confessional (Lutherans don't do guilt very well anyway, LOL).

I just recall that this forum had a reputation all over CF (well known to all the staff) as being pretty rough and tumble, and that was my experience, too.

I've been "away" from CF for about a year (I really still am - I just poke my nose over here a bit now, too - LOL) and the change is very striking. I'm almost (ALMOST) encouraged to poke my nose in other forums, too!

Anyway, thanks. THAT is my point in this thread. Whoever, however - I'm just happy that it did. It FAR better reflects Lutherans - who yes are passionate and take their theology seriously, but are humble, loving, spiritual, coffee (and/or beer) drinking, great people. And I feel welcomed here, and that feels very new and very good.

Thank you.

:)
