What I learned about the "church" of scientology disgusted me not only as a Christian but as an American Tax Payer. Here are a couple fun facts.
*Dianetics (Their bible) is 100% tax free, the Christian Bible however is not.
*Scientology also teaches that Jesus was a pedophile. THIS IS BLASPHEMY!
If you choose to do more research you will find deaths and human rights violations. (Just recently in Italy a "church tried to kidnap a forty year old women.) There are two ways you can change all of this. One, write a letter to your senator or state representative and demand that this be changed. Second, get active! There are massive rallies planned all around the world on February 10th outside of "churches" of Scientology. Do a quick Google search and find a "church" near you and I can guarantee on the 10th there will be a rally there.

I was unable to confirm the tax-free book claim. The pedophilia claim seems to be from a court case in which a high-level Scientologist had his computer files confiscated. One of them purports to be a Scientology document claiming that Jesus was a "lover of young boys and men". But all the evidence seems to be from one web site, linked multiple times, and the Church of Scientology argues that this one document is a forgery.
I would think that if it were true, there would be more evidence... other copies of this so-called high-level Scientology document in other people's hands.
Not to say that Scientology isn't a rather weird belief system... but I'd rather fight it on things I know they actually believe than to argue against things that I'm not sure of.

I would not put it past anyone to use an odd 'religion' as scientology - to push their own agenda ahead.
Pedophilia?? Grrrrrr
I am not a scientology expert...but they are pretty secretive, and odd.

...that's what the early Christians were accusived of, secretive meetings, cannibalism, etc...least they had a reason though~they were being hunted and killed...what's the Scientology people's story?
Surprised they're not looking for their own forum at CF yethttp://bestsmileys.com/lol/6.gif

That was very cool! So was his role in The Last Samurai!
So, I still think Tom Cruise is cool, even though his religion is really bizarre.

Psh, The Last Samurai was lame!
We all know Top Gun and Rainman are the only good movies Tom Cruise is in.

I can tell you the background to this, basically, a training video with Tom Cruise in it got leaked, I haven't seen the video because the CoS keep threatening law suits and forcing websites to remove it - and the reason for that is because it contains scenes of Tom Cruise babbling incoherently.
Anyways, a group calling themselves Anonymous released a video to the CoS basically telling they were going to bring down the CoS, you can google that video and find it, it's on youtube. Anonymous started by bombarding the CoS website with DoS attacks, and now they've moved on to organizing protests outside of CoS HQs all across the world to be held on the 10th of February.
The Last Samuri was boring btw, Top Gun was good though.

I'm new here, and I find Scientology to be a religion whose only purpose is to make money for the leaders of the church. While this is the case with Scientology, there are massive amounts of all religious institutions which do similar things. It is easy to point the finger at a small group who isn't very popular, but to force people to not be allowed to believe as they wish is un-American. As far as the tax breaks for their book compared to the bible, I have never heard this before. Most religions can have tax exempt status, including Scientologists. The thing about America is people have the freedom to believe weird things and make mistakes. I'm sure Christians would not want someone forcing them to not be allowed to freely practice their faith, because someone who doesn't like Christians thinks they shouldn't be able to.
Scientology may be false, but I have never been threatened by a scientologist. I think we need to focus on the major problems facing us today which is radical Islamic fundamentalism. I would think even the most ardent scientologist would be hand in hand with the Christian regarding this 21st century danger.

Scientologists are absolutely batty...not only that, but they're a money cult and their ways can be very detrimental to people.
My mom's a psychiatrist. She had a very sick patient who decided that Scientology would be better than therapy and medication. She killed herself soon after her conversion.
Tom Cruise really needs to shut up and stop pushing his dangerous beliefs on vulnerable people who might actually listen to him.
