I thought I would share this story with you.

I like to have this story next time someone trys to tell me someone is better of dead??? His parents had a large family & came to the logical thinking they could not keep him & either way he would soon die. So they asked the local monks to take care of him.

Bl. Herman was born in 1013 with a cleft palate, cerebral palsy and spina bifida.[1] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Herman_the_Cripple#_note-0) As a result he had great difficulty moving and could hardly speak. At the age of seven he was placed in a Benedictine (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benedictine) monastery by his parents who could no longer look after him. He grew up in the monastery, learning from the monks and developing a keen interest in both theology and the world around him.
At the age of twenty Bl. Herman was professed as a Benedictine monk; he would spend the rest of his life in the monastery.[2] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Herman_the_Cripple#_note-1) He was literate in several languages, including Arabic, Greek and Latin[3] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Herman_the_Cripple#_note-2) and wrote about mathematics, astronomy and Christianity. He built musical and astronomical instruments and was also a famed religious poet. When he went blind in later life he began writing hymns. His most famous is Salve Regina (Hail Holy Queen).
Bl. Herman died at the age of forty in the monastery in 1054. The Church beatified him in 1863.

Blessed Herman the Cripple (1013-1054) is a blessed of the Roman Catholic Church. This means that the Church acknowledges his ascension into Heaven and that he can intercede on behalf of the faithful still on Earth. He was a Benedictine monk who wrote poetry, hymns and academic literature. He also made musical and astronomical instruments. He is sometimes called Herman Contractus.

I feel I must always be searching for the truth yet trust those who came before me just as much as I do anyone in todays society. I agree there are many who hear something growing up & believe it with out checking it out or understanding what it means. Yet there are those quick to accuse others with different beliefs with out understanding.

Peace be with you

It's certainly an interesting topic.. perhaps you could start a thread in the debate sub-forum.
I know very little about this particular belief.... and most of what I have heard has been from those who disagree with it, and so probably somewhat biased.
I'd be interested in discussing it, somewhere where debate is permitted!

 So what would we be debating? :D

If I read the rules kinda correct we have to announce a debate & date etc..? I don't see it on any, but I see some closed cause they were not? lol
