Hi guys,

I'm looking for a good, kind, knowledgeable book with testimony of a former Catholic who has converted to some form of Protestantism (i.e. Lutheran, Methodist, Baptist, doesn't matter much), and can present a very KNOWLEDGEABLE, but not overly technical explanation of their own personal story.

I've read (still working on) "Unmasking Catholicism" by Mary Ann Collins, and although enlightening in some respects, in others is it's a blatant attack without good arguments to back them up. It's almost like a cut and paste collection of information from other people's websites in some cases. I have found some excellent web links from it, and some decently good arguments in some chapters, but other chapters are very weak. (you can read this entire book on her website at http://www.unmaskingcatholicism.com/ )

I'm wanting something a bit kinder & gentler, and preferably from someone who was a) a cradle Catholic and b) very devout in their practice... I'm not looking for the prostitute who was baptized but never attended a day of church, heh. I've seen some partial testimonies on this website, and I'd love to hear more. But I'm hoping for a scholarly work that I can present to someone.... I'm doing the same favor for them by reading "Rome Sweet Home" (which BTW, hasn't convinced me through any logical argument that any Catholic doctrine is right vs. the Protestant doctrine in question).

Thanks again guys,

Michael

I dunno about any books, but I believe there is a small handful of people in these forums who were catholic at one time...im sure they'd be more than happy to share their experience(s) with you...just my two cents :)

Yeah, Luther's Rose and Flipper were Roman Catholic.

If you are looking for a general easy to read book on what Lutherans believe, let me know, otherwise I am of no use to you. :D
