Movie question

Most of us remember the TV series Starski and Hutch - the dark-haired detective with a red car with white stripe and his blond partner.

That blond guy was also in a movie where he played a hobo. Him and the older hobo were traveling on a freight train.

I saw that movie on TV some 20 years ago and want to see it again.

Does anyone remember the name of that movie, or at least the name of that guy?

I do not know the name of that film. I tried guessing and clicking on links, but they have just the list of actors and producers, a resume.

Now that I look at his bio, his father was a preacher.

He also appeared to have problems in figuring out how to stay married.
Divorced something like 5 times and is finally living with someone.
Yet he had enough children to keep him busy. :)
